TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Thursday watch, 7th week of West Seattle Bridge closure

6:07 AM: 45th morning without the high-rise West Seattle Bridge. If you have to commute this morning – here are the cameras for the restricted-access low bridge (where SPD enforcement continues) and the 5-way intersection west of it:

The main detour route across the Duwamish River is the 1st Avenue South Bridge (map). To get to I-5, exit onto Michigan at the bridge’s north end. Here are cameras for the bridge and Michigan east of it:

The South Park Bridge (map) can also take you across the river. Here’s the South Park camera:

Both bridges open for marine traffic; check the @SDOTBridges Twitter feed for info about openings.

Something that will hopefully catch some eyes.Below is an excerpt from a West Seattle Bike Connections blog post:“Today at the east approach to the Spokane St Bridge, we met Seattle fire fighter Aaron and paramedic Kelly on bikes, returning home to West Seattle after their shifts. They carry all the gear they need on their e-assist cargo bikes.

First time out of West Seattle in a month since last month’s prenatal appointment for my wife and judging by how it is now, it’s going to be horrendous when people start going back to work. Michigan definitely needs some light timing work. Lots of sitting for those trying to pass through while cross traffic was nom existent.
