ROAD WORK UPDATE: Roxbury repaving begins

The SW Roxbury repaving project between 16th and 18th SW has begun. Crews had started with the westbound lanes when we went over to check at midmorning. The work could last up to a week; both directions of Roxbury will be repaved. Westbound traffic is being detoured, as shown on the map in our preview.

WSB-Any news if SDOT will considered repaving 35th Ave SW and Roxbury As they were before (2 lanes  each way) due to west Seattle bridge being down?

You mean restriping? Based on a question I just asked for a forthcoming story – about a different rechannelized road – I’d say there’s pretty much no chance.

ABC. They MAY reconsider if W Marginal is closed because of a possible collapse of the high bridge. But I definitely wouldn’t hold my breath.

Nice to see this area get the attention it deserves!

Will the city do anything for the intersections from 509 to Roxbury via Olson Place? The intersection of Olson Place and Meyers Way is in rough shape and will be handling a lot more traffic.

With the questions about restriping, is Admiral Way also going to have its speed limit reduced from 30 to 25 mph?  Most of the West end of Admiral doesn’t even have the center turn lane separating opposing traffic directions like the now-25 mph 35 SW does.  Also, has SDOT ever released some before and after counts on Admiral, after adding all those protected bike lanes?

Agreed on Brian’s points above. The ENTIRE length of thoroughfare of Roxbury to Olsen, Myers from 35th Ave. to Rt. 509 needs help. So they managed to put a Band-Aid on a severed artery (pun intended). Happy that 2 blocks was done it truly was the worst. I’m sure the city and county will say there are no funds left to do anything else.

Sorry, comment time is over.
