UPDATE: Vehicle-on-side crash at 35th/Trenton

2:38 PM: Police and fire are arriving at what was dispatched as a flipped-vehicle crash at 35th/Trenton. Avoid the area.

2:49 PM: Actually a vehicle-on-side crash, and it’s closer to Henderson. 35th is closed between Tremton and Henderson until this is cleared. Police tell us the driver got out of the vehicle and is not seriously hurt. At least one parked vehicle was damaged.

I’m glad nobody was seriously hurt. This is not a good time to go to the hospital. In addition to the overcrowded conditions, you could get sick. Please be careful

Serious question, but do we really have overcrowded conditions at hospitals?  I ask because we have about 1,000 people testing positive, not all of whom need to be hospitalized which doesn’t seem like it should tax our hospitals’ capacities across the area.  And, I have friends whose relative is in Swedish for another major illness – yes, other ailments/diseases/major accidents are happening that aren’t COVID – and they haven’t noticed what they would consider overcrowding.  So, how much of that is urban lore?  It would be nice if we had more accurate data (or even just data at all) on some of these issues – like what are occupied hospital beds now vs. a year ago this time vs. actual capacity, etc.  I just think some perspective and more calm driven by data would be nice.

I had someone; not this person, but a light blue sedan, pass me going 60 while I sat waiting to make a turn at that intersection yesterday. It was a legit 60, my car shook from the passing. I thought it was a police car running without a siren, but no, just some … in a hurry.

The car didn’t just tip on its side. It’s flipped all the way around and fell back on its side. We saw it as it happened. We had a front row seat unfortunately

What do you think caused the crash?

SUVs are top-heavy. High center of gravity makes them easy to tip over.

I’m not sure. It wasn’t on a turn and nothing hit it. Was so out of the blue. It may have accidentally hit a parked car causing it to flip

WSB- Can you advise on how to get a report on this incident?  Rookie/Trainie office took all information on the person who caused this accident and now no info on driver or their insurance is able to be found. We are getting run around from SPS and WSP for a report. In the mean time the truck is totaled and still sitting in the side of the road.  Trying to be patient and have the other drivers insurance company a contact us but it’s been 5 day’s. We also have been without our second vehicle for that time.  We don’t need it much as we are sheltering in place however, there are times we need it. Anyway, we would appreciate any advice you can offer to get this information. The Sipila family
