TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Friday watch; weekend alerts

(SDOT MAP with travel times/ Is the ‘low bridge’ closed? LOOK HERE/ West Seattle-relevant traffic cams HERE)

6:59 AM: Good morning. So far, no alerts or incidents right now. One note:

LOW-BRIDGE INFO: You might have noticed the “open or closed?” Twitter feed hasn’t updated in a week-plus. SDOT says they’re working on it. (Meantime, we’ve switched the link above to the SOOT map, which has “bridges up/down” modes you can check.)

Two weekend alerts:

OVERNIGHT TONIGHT: The southbound Highway 99 tunnel will be closed 10 pm tonight until 8 am Saturday.

SATURDAY: Saturday, starting around 11 am,SW Alaska will be closed between California SW and 42nd SW for the West Seattle Junction Hometown Holidays Tree Lighting (6 pm) and Night Market (3-7 pm).

There’s a crash getting cleared (in the northbound left lane) on the 1st Ave bridge as of about 10 minutes ago

and this is why I have not plunked $30 of my very scarce $$$ into a Good to Go account to use the tunnel; they keep closing the tunnel during THE prime times that I need to use it for my date night jobs on Fri & Sat nights in Magnolia/Queen Anne

Are you suggesting they should close the tunnel during peak traffic hours, or would you prefer that they not maintain the tunnel?

She’s suggesting it’s closed a LOT, which it is.

thank you TR for this info, so I don’t end up driving down Mercer at 2:30am to take the tunnel home only to find a CLOSED sign

Sorry, comment time is over.
