No, those weren’t gunshots. Congratulations, Sounders FC!

2:22 PM: Lots of 911 calls for suspected gunshots. No, those were fireworks – Sounders FC just won the Major League Soccer championship.

7:00 PM: If you want to join the celebration downtown, here’s early info from a postgame media advisory:

Media and fans should be advised that Sounders FC is set to hold its MLS Cup Champions Parade and Rally …on Tuesday, November 12. The event will follow roughly the same path as 2016’s celebration, with the Parade element departing from Westlake Park at 12:00 p.m. PT, followed by the Rally portion at Seattle Center at roughly 1:30 p.m. PT.

Might want to verify for me, but I believe that was the largest crowd ever at an event in Seattle (almost 70,000).  Yes, I know, there are many that don’t watch sports- but all these folks were having such a great time! It was fun watching from home.

Except for U2…..it was a tad larger.

It was INCREDIBLE!  The energy in the stadium was just electric!  Great job, Sounders…. parade and celebration is Tuesday at Noon!

It can’t be higher than the time Safeco hosted Wrestlemania. I refuse to believe it.

Thanks Blog for fact checking for me! Yup Century Link can hold a whole bunch of fans! I should have been more specific in my ask- attendance in an arena vs attendance ( single day) at a Seattle event. And my West Seattle friends – U2, Sir Paul, Pearl Jam, The Who & all else- so much fun – Gotta admit, I was never big with the Wrestlemania, but I’d love to see Truck-a-saurus.

Didn’t watch a second of it.  I was at the Pass hiking.  That’s what I enjoy.
    Congrats to the Seattle team.

I had to Google Sounders and MLS. I thought the fireworks were for the Seahawks, but got confused when I realized they didn’t have a game today.

What a great moment for Seattle and Seattle sports.  There are not too many things that can unite a city in a positive manner like a victorious sports team. It usually the domain of the other end of the spectrum when something tragic happens. Its not important if one is a huge or loyal fan, a fair weather fan, or not a sports fan at all, the joyous energy is real and helps push out negative thoughts if only for a little while. Especially when it happens at home. What a rare and fortuitous event, just when we needed it.Thank you, Sounders.

Agreed.  Thanks so much to Paul Allen for his efforts to get Century Link built.  I highly doubt it would get done in today’s political climate.

  • My two cents ... November 10, 2019 (8:29 pm)

Great day for Seattle! If you went/watched/hiked/whatever… a great day! Go Sounders!

I’m just here to let everyone know that I know nothing about this big event apparently enjoyed by so many because I’m completely above it and spend my time doing other things and pursuing other interests. I mean, I’m interested JUST enough to let you all know I’m otherwise disinterested. I mean, there is value in that. Otherwise, I had no idea this even existed! I’m just really tuned into other things and not THIS thing that so many of you seem to find interesting. Aren’t I fascinating?
