West of Chicago Pizza Company: Welcoming a new West Seattle Blog sponsor

A new pizza option in West Seattle starting today: Deep dish. West of Chicago Pizza Company is opening in Delridge and joining the WSB sponsor team to get the word out:

West of Chicago Pizza Company is pick-up only for now, and you can place your order online or by phone. “While West Seattle has plenty of pizza places, there are 0 deep-dish pizza places, says proprietor Shawn Millard – until now. He explains that he has “almost 25 years of experience feeding people,” and a “passion for the craft” of preparing food, respecting the ingredients too. “People who know me fight for a seat at my table; people know when I’m feeding them, they’ll be fed well. … I think the community will be pleased with an option that is completely different from the other current options.”

West of Chicago Pizza Company is starting small, at 5604 Delridge Way SW, but expecting to expand as sales grow. Shawn is a resident of West Seattle and is here to stay; he is looking forward to supporting local nonprofits, too, as do so many local independent businesses. You can see the West of Chicago Pizza Company menu on the website and you can order there for pickup, or call 206-339-DEEP – that’s 206-339-3337. Thursdays through Sundays, 4 pm-10 pm (last order at 9:15 pm).

We thank West of Chicago Pizza Company for sponsoring independent, community-collaborative neighborhood news via WSB; find our current sponsor team listed in directory format here, and find info on joining the team by going here.

The pizza I had in Chicago was and still is the best pizza I’ve ever had. So thick I could only eat two pieces though I wanted to eat the whole thing. If your pizza is half as good as that I’ll be very happy and you’ll have me as a customer. Good luck!

I like the looks of this.

Hurrah!!! Can’t wait to check this out and see which style of Chicago deep dish they do! (And way closer than shipping Giordano’s!!)

I know people will groan at the thought of another pizza place in West Seattle but Seattle in general is lacking proper deep dish. I am very excited to try this place out.

I’m tired of paper thin pizza.  I’m all over some real pizza.

I am excited to order in the next few days!  Don’t let the inevitable pizza haters get you down.  From one pizza guy to another, best of luck and I will be down soon to support!

Right across the street from Olympia Pizza? That’s pretty gutsy.

This is great! Any hope for an actual restaurant space in the near future? I’ll certainly take advantage of the pick-up option, but it’d be great to have more walkable destinations in the neighborhood for dinners out.

My goal is brick and mortar within 18 months. Starting small without a bank loan currently. I am the only employee right now. My goal is to establish a clientele and base here, then get into a place somewhere convenient. Hoping you awesome west seattleites grow with me!

Will definitely have some! Never tried deep dish but wanted too and now when it’s in the hood, no reason no not too.

This is such great news. Love chicago style pizza; we’ve had Gino’s shipped out for special occasions.  (The midwesterner of our family- really likes it for his birthday). His main question; will you have green olives? All seattle pizza places only have black.  Hopefully you are successful enough to expand hours in the future; would love to pick some up for office lunches.

Finally! Chicago Style Pizza in WSea!  Thank you!  We frequented Bacino’s in Chicago, and Chicago pizza was so hard to leave behind.  Good luck!

This interests me greatly.  If it is anything like Lou Malnati’s I’ll be a loyal customer.

  • Colby April 12, 2019 (7:01 am)

Glad to see an option in the south end after Windy City Pie has taken off and was forced out of the commissary 2+ years ago in SoDo (then moved to Elliot Bay and is now open in Phinney Ridge).

    • Jb April 12, 2019 (11:07 am)

There is a Breezytown Pizza (same outfit as Windy City) located just south of Jefferson Golf Course.  They share space with the Clockout Lounge.

      • Colby April 12, 2019 (5:39 pm)

True, I haven’t had the chance to check it out, thanks for reminding me.

  • Ex Chicagoan April 12, 2019 (9:21 am)

I’m excited to try it out!  I hope you can expand to Chicago style square cut, crispy thin crust in the future!  I so miss getting decent non-fancy pizza.

    • Another Ex-Chicagoan April 12, 2019 (10:18 am)

I agree with the square cut pizza. I’ve got dibs on the little corner. Also, Seattle could use a place with a good Vienna dog, Italian beef, and sausages.

      • And Another Ex-Chicagoan April 12, 2019 (4:56 pm)

Oh the square cut! And pepper and egg sandwiches. And gravy bread.  Nothing finer than Chicago food.

  • Jacob April 12, 2019 (9:27 am)

It’s not pizza unless it’s delivered.  Add a delivery service.

    • AJ April 12, 2019 (12:19 pm)

I agree that delivery would be ideal, but the owner stated above that he is the only employee right now. I doubt he could keep up with the demand if delivery service were available. Hopefully, delivery will be added once the business is more established.

  • Nick April 13, 2019 (9:57 am)

I’m in Chicago right now this is some good news to come home to. I’ll definitely be checking this out.

Sorry, comment time is over.
