C Line is taking forever to creep through Pioneer Square. The bus driver started letting people out on 1st before the bus stop so people could walk. Been on the bus for 47 minutes so far from Morgan Junction and we are just nearing 1st and King.

Looks like 1st avenue is down to a single lane heading into downtown through pioneer square. Busses / traffic really backed up along 1st, Buses are barely moving.

21x arriving g at 1st & king @ 9:05 took an additional 17 minutes to get to 3rd and Madison.SDOT should not do lane closures until after the commute is over! Also, the time that street parking along first is legal should be reconsidered. Presently it is legal to park north of king street at 9:00 AM. It woul be great if the city changed this to 10:00 or later. The morning commute is still in full force at 9:00.

David, I think reconsidering the parking timetable along 1st Avenue is a brilliant idea.  As someone who regularly sits in traffic on 1st heading into downtown after 9 am, I observe lots of people behind me in the left lane getting frustrated at the traffic and zooming into the “open” right lane, only to have to cut back into the left lane in the same block when there is a car parked in the right lane.  Which then slows down the traffic in the left lane as people let that person back in.  And then I have also watched the same exact thing happen on the very next block.  Also, the lights in Pioneer Square are timed so that East/West lights are green for roughly the same time as North/South lights.  I would think that someone in SDOT would have thought about both the timing of the lights and whether it makes sense to allow parking in the left lane starting at 9 given that they are shuttling a lot of traffic from West Seattle through that corridor.  Once you get through Pioneer Square, the lights on 1st downtown are timed more sensibly and north/south traffic moves much more efficiently.

Sorry, comment time is over.
