Admiral had four busses canceled this morning: 55, 56, 57 and another 55.  And the water taxi shuttle zipped right past me.  Argh!!!  Does metro have an easy way to report these frustrations?

3 55s cancelled this afternoon and the 57 I waited for no showed. I wish I’d taken my car. I just want to go home.

Anything on the downed bicyclist on Delridge and Genesee? As a two wheeler it was upsetting to see a kindred spirit down. I hope she wasn’t a victim of yet another oblivious driver

I saw it happen. Driver entered bus/bike lane and made contact. Rider went over handlebars and landed hard. A doctor pulled over & assisted right away until medics arrived. Rider was conscious so hoping for best possible outcome.

I’m checking with SFD, but we can at least know that the person’s injuries were not assessed as major since there was no transport by SFD Medic Unit (they cleared quickly as noted) and no extended investigation (as with the Admiral motorcycle incident the other night, life-threatening injuries means the TCIS is called out and hours of investigation result). – TR

Update on the downed cyclist – I’m her boyfriend and currently with her at Harborview.   Helmet absorbed a lot of the impact (wear your helmet folks!) but she still suffered significant left facial contusions, a nasty cut requiring 20 or so stitches, and a couple fractures in her left hand.  She is conscious and doing fine at this point.  We’re very grateful and appreciative of all the support she received immediately after the accident and the follow-up thoughts on this blog.  John – I don’t know if you filed a witness report but I would love to follow-up with you on details on what happened.  Let me know if there’s a way to contact you or feel free to email me at zarbin @ gmail dot com.If anyone else saw anything please let me know as well!  Thanks again everyone.  -Justin

And this isn’t the only spot were drivers disregard bus lanes. As a regular cyclist commuting between W.Sea and the UDistrict I see this all over town. Rep. Fitzgibbon sponsored a bill that would have authorized automated cameras to catch drivers in bus-only lanes. Unfortunately not enough legislators cared enough to pass it.  I saw a cyclist get hit by a car yesterday at Westlake and 9th, by a driver trying to beat the light. And was almost hit by an inattentive driver along the waterfront. I now have cameras on the front and back of my bike, and it’s a shame to have to cycle in fear even in protected lanes.

Justin, glad to hear she is doing ok. From my perspective and based on observations over the last few months, this problem is getting worse. I’m seeing near-misses pretty much everyday between here and downtown. All of the proposed road diets and protected bike lane construction can’t come soon enough.

My wife and I passed just after aid arrived. I am a regular cyclist on that route but was driving this morning.  Cyclist was wearing bright colors and was down well to the right in the bus/bike lane, just past Genesee. Based on where the cyclist was down, the driver was obviously moving into the bus/bike lane too early if they were intending to turn right on Andover. Most likely they were trying to beat the line of traffic onto the bridge.  I see it frequently.  Selfish and unsafe. In that area there is no safe sidewalk or alternative route for a cyclist heading to the low bridge.  Cyclist traffic is picking up.  Please look out for us.  Justin, I’m happy your girlfriend she gets to see another day. Speedy recovery.

Sorry, comment time is over.
