DEVELOPMENT: 8415 Delridge project in Early Design Outreach process

(King County Assessor’s Office photo)

That 65-year-old house at 8415 Delridge Way SW is on a big lot (15,300 square feet) now planned for 14 rowhouse-style townhouses and 14 offstreet-parking spaces. It’s the latest West Seattle project added to the city’s list of sites going through the “early community outreach” phase of Design Review. That means the project team will schedule a community meeting to talk about the design; nothing’s on the schedule yet. The site plan shows seven units facing Delridge, the other seven behind them, and the parking area on the alley.

I wish the council or the mayor would REZONE more or most of Delridge so we could get more businesses and services there (mixed-use developments, of course). Such a waste of potential urban vibrancy.

I completely agree! I’m always hoping for some more small business to open up when I see a new construction bulletin.

What sorts of businesses are you hoping for that can’t come in under the existing zoning in Delridge? Our lack of certain types of businesses has much more to do with demographics and geography than being blocked from building here. And we actually have a very vibrant — but hidden — Delridge business community that is trying to organize and promote itself better right now.

What a nice little house, hate to see it go.  :(https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/8415-Delridge-Way-SW-Seattle-WA-98106/2112548002_zpid/

It will now house 14 households instead of 1. That’s excellent!

Speak for yourself KM, not everyone embraces density.I am fully against Seattle’s density fetish, housing without parking, and ADU’s.   I vote as such, for what good it does, and would leave Seattle altogether except I don’t want a new mortgage and to start all getting my home the way I want it.

As long as you got yours, right?

If you don’t like density, it seems to make the most sense for you to move to the suburbs anyway.  Cities are dense.  In our climate density makes sense because of the environmental impact of all those lawns and driveways on the watershed.  I don’t really understand the arguments against it, especially from people who chose to live in an urban area.

The city will probably wait to rezone North Delridge until just after Sound Transit uses Eminent Domain to take people’s homes and businesses for light rail.  Otherwise it will drive up light rail costs.  Never mind that we now know for sure that the neighborhood around the station will be sure to have increased density.  By delaying the vertain upzone the city will be doing Sound Transit a favor at the expense of the property owners who will be forcibly relocated.

This home is in South Delridge so I don’t know what the point of your comment is…

Can we please get at least one new business on Delridge! They keep building so many houses, but no stores. Where are all these people supposed to shop? Not everyone can easily make it to the Junction. We need stores on Delridge!

Maybe you need to petition for a Delridge Urban Village designation/zone?

Sorry, comment time is over.
