Kids love snow. No doubt about it.

Dear drivers: STAY HOME.  The streets have now turned to ice, and fools are spinning out, driving down sidewalks, and using trees as bumper cars.  You’re going to wreck your car, damage property, or kill someone.  Do not attempt to drive west on 102nd from 35th.  Drivers were abandoning their vehicles at the intersection earlier today even before it turned to compacted, sheer ice.

I find it much easier to drive around now that it’s well below freezing. It’s almost impossible to get traction in 34-degree snow with melting ice underneath. I’ve been watching people drive around all day in Arbor Heights and many are driving WAY to fast.

@ anonyme. Yikes. Not very optimistic are you?

Snow dog is funny, and we’ll done!Anonyne – some people have to drive to get to work, critical jobs like nurses, doctors, police, fire et al.  You want them to not get to their jobs?

    • MagPie February 9, 2019 (7:04 pm)

Yup! My nurse shift starts at 7am tomorrow so my brother in law was a hero and came to shovel the snow so my car can get out in the morning. 🤞🏼

Let’s all sing along, “Frosty the snow person, had a very…”

We’re not talking about emergency vehicles, which are prepared for dangerous conditions, or doctors and nurses trying to get to work.  The morons I’m seeing out there appear to be headed home and not going toward any kind of business location.  Anyone with common sense (I know, it’s a rare commodity these days) should be able to understand that they might have to seek a safer, alternative route home, where there are not steep grades, or leave vehicles in a safer, level place and walk the remainder of the way.  Again, some folks seem to confuse “optimism” for common sense, which explains some of the backlash here.  I personally don’t want to see more kids in the hospital, or worse, because some fool spun out and hit them where they should have been safe.

@zd, next time I see a vehicle spinning out at the intersection or sliding backward down a sidewalk I’ll be sure to point out to them that the problem clearly lies with their lack of optimism.@mj, I’m not sure how you came up with that bizarre interpretation, but perhaps you should share your wisdom with SDOT, WSDOT, SPD, NOAA, and even WSB, who all said exactly the same thing.   Major arterials are not too bad this morning, but if you are not performing an essential service, such as emergency or hospital services (which apparently, for some, needed spelling out) – you probably should not be on the road.  At least not yesterday.  Meanwhile, it’s a great day to make some chili and binge watch Schitt’s Creek.
