Driver crashes into Delridge bus shelter

Police are investigating that crash on Delridge at Myrtle. An 18-year-old was reported to be driving the car when he hit the bus shelter. He was not reported to have been seriously hurt. (Thanks to the person who sent the photo!)

Well, not surprised to see my bus stop on here. It’s previously been on fire (well, the hill beside it, and also the apartments across the street), and it flooded a foot deep that other time. Glad the driver is ok and no pedestrians were hurt.

OMG!! Is that bus stop cursed?!?!

No, it’s just in a very exciting location.  I mean, we’ll probably sage the new one just in case.  But, no.  Not cursed.

Holy crap, I actually remember all of those events… well, except for the flooding.

Who allows an 18-year old to drive around Seattle on snowy roads?  That family will be paying huge insurance bills.

At 18 you’re an adult so there might not have been anyone “allowing” him. Way back when dinosaurs walked the earth, I was working three jobs and supporting myself at that age. Anyway, we’ll ask for the report next week, but narratives on traffic incidents tend to be difficult to obtain.

We are parents of a young adult, and so have known more than a few members of the generation in question here. They cannot be generalized any more than we could have. (If I *had* to generalize about them, I would say they give me more hope than my peers did at that age, in fact, despite the circumstances they face.) – TR

For all we know, he might’ve been working and saving money, and bought the car himself! And the same thing could happen to an older person.

Isn’t that the bus shelter that was built on top of that ancient indian burial ground?

    • KM February 8, 2019 (10:50 pm)

And radioactive waste, according to Phoebe Buffay.

Umm, everything in Seattle is built on an Indian burial ground.

Shaggy, I think it might be on the Hell Mouth. Call Buffy, perhaps she can help! Be safe out there friends!

      Lol – it’s a movie reference.  Poltergeist, I think.

Isn’t this near the refugee daycare center and where a neighbors daughter was killed by a car speeding on delridge?  I still am baffled that the city hasn’t changed the speed limit to 25 and 15 -ESPECIALLY with so many children in the area.

    That’s gonna leave a mark.

For some reason I always see driver’s starring at their phones while I’m waiting for the bus along that stretch of road. Glad no-one was hurt, surprised no-one was under there especially with the cold weather last night.

Hey,I started working at 12, rolled my VW in the Sealth parking lot at 16,had my own apartment at 17 and was learning how to shoot the venerable M-16 at 18 and have owned my own business for over 40 years so I believe it is a bit of a generational thing. Not every teen/young person can make 6 figures sitting at a keyboard. Just remember “You didn’t build that”. Glass half full/half empty. How about just plain broken?

Sorry, comment time is over.
