Traffic heavy this morning. I got on the bridge at 6:30, already backed up to the crest. MANY bus lane only violaters between 1st and 4th, 5 SOVs waiting to turn right at 4th ave in the bus only lane.

I believe WSB noted in the original story about that new bus lane that it was being striped early but the restrictions would not be in effect until 99 officially closed on Friday evening.

        Good to know Cam, thanks!!

Yeah, and WSB mentioned it again in yesterday’s traffic report

The commute does not look good and it will get much worse for next week.   The good news is that its warmer than normal and not as wet.  Biking is going to be a breeze.

The new bus lane restriction added 10-15 minutes to my commute this morning.  Next week is going to be interesting.

Any more questions about the impending closure … we’ve just been invited to the next multiagency media briefing tomorrow with Metro, SDOT, SPD, SFD, so let us know! But remember re: the 4th bus lane that it’s not officially in effect until next week. I’ll be asking about enforcement plans then, among other things.- TR

Could you please ask them on how they plan to crackdown on cars driving in the bike lane on East Marginal between Spokane Street and South Atlantic Street? Jagoff car drivers do this every time there is a backup on that road (which will certainly be the case during the closure), even risking damage to thier vehicles by driving over the plastic pylons. Thanks!

I know it’s unlikely, but I’d really like to know if there is a chance they will have the C stop at the rapid ride stops at Yesler and/or Columbia. They are going to drive right by those stops and will be stuck in traffic anyways and it would be beneficial to a lot of people to have a stop in Pioneer Square.

CAM, thank you for asking that question. WSB, I’ve been a SOV because of recent medical issues. If the 21X stopped near Cherry or Columbia (already along the revised route) I could ditch the car commute. When this route revision occurred in the past, other riders and myself made this stop request but were told by drivers it wasn’t allowed.

I do have a question that I haven’t heard much about, or maybe you can link to the right spot.  What are they doing to mitigate traffic at the spot where they will need to divert traffic off of 99 and onto 1st Ave ? Like, in Georgetown / SODO whatever you want to call it.  Everyone coming north on 99 squeezing to one lane., and doesn’t seem like there are plans to help buses there? That is the route for our bus to downtown, # 113.thanks

Sorry, comment time is over.
