Did I miss something, or was it NOT communicated that the BUS ONLY lanes on the WSB were to be EXTENDED to the 4th avenue Exit?  This is really going to make ViaDoom WORSE than it needs to be.  It took me 25 minutes to get out of West Seattle at 6:30 this am.

Yes, previously announced & an announcement last Friday that the work would be done this past weekend.

FYI.  I take the 4th Ave Exit off the WSB people were still traveling in the far right lane all the way down to 4th Ave when I took it this morning.  I hang in the left lane as I go to Georgetown.  A few people had gotten into the middle lane but most were staying in the right hand lane to take a right onto 4th Ave.  I have never seen a bus take the 4th Ave exit but maybe more will be using it on Monday Jan. 14th. when the real crunch begins.

The circus is just beginning with the new bus lane. Lots of drivers using the restricted lane around 9am this morning, all the way down to the right turn at the bottom of the exit. Few cared, and most didn’t care much about the speed limit either. There was the usual last-minute lane changing to the left just at the 4th Ave exit. But one clown in particular came all the way over two lanes from the new bus lane. It was almost disastrous. This project may need more than new paint.

Thanks. Don’t know that this makes a difference but SDOT made a point of saying that while they had to paint the lane Saturday while the weather was OK, it’s not officially in effect until the Viaduct closure results in the buses changing routes. – TR

WSB, thank you for clarifying! That is what I had understood from reading your post about the early paint job, but was second guessing myself.

I left Highland Park at Holden at 6:20 a.m. this morning and was on Beacon Hill at 6:40.  I found it to be a great commute. Felt bad for those trying to get on I-5 though.  Trying to keep on my mind that it’s going to be difficult but no sense getting my knickers in a knot and making it harder on my self. Turn up music loud, sing along. listen to a CD book, pray,  or just talk to myself. I can’t change anything outside my car so I will change what happens inside my car. If this irritates you , so sorry. I going to make the best of a difficult situation.

Sorry, comment time is over.
