West Seattle restaurants: Looks like Agave Cocina is expanding to The Junction

Thanks for the tip that activity’s been sighted in the empty-almost-7-months ex-Fresh Bistro space on the ground floor of Mural (4727 42nd SW). That’s led to a discovery in city permit files: A site plan for a new restaurant called Agave. Same company that has Mexican restaurants on Queen Anne and on the Eastside? The city file says yes. We’ll be following up to find out more.

Great news! Agave has wonderful, interesting and very flavorful food. We eat there often before concerts at the Key.

Boooooooring. Exactly what the Junction doesn’t need.

Ugh – Puero Vallarta is too old school – huge plate covered in a mass of melted yellow cheese.I will give Agave a try. Not as far away as Cactus.

I agree.  I think Puerto Vallarta and Agave will be as different as can be–and as someone else pointed out it sure as hell beats an empty storefront.  I’ll certainly give them a try.

My group had a terrific meal at the Queen Anne Agave just last week. Good to have them here in West Seattle. (Side note: Hoping that the interior designers and the TV installers will actually coordinate on this locale).

The carpeting at Puerto Vallarta is reason alone to open a new Mexican restaurant in West Seattle.

Great news. Yes there are a lot of Mexican places but matador is really the only quality place in the junction (for sit down dinner) and it’s always busy on the weekends. Be nice to have another fresh Mexican option. Yay!

I’m willing to give it a shot but …. we have some reservations after trying Agave on Eastlake just once.  A sign greets you at the door to tell you to wait to be seated.  It was not busy.  There were two or three guys at the bar, not far from the door, who pretended we did not exist.  No shouts of hello, or someone will be right with you.  Nothing.  We were invisible.  When we finally got seated, the service was not impressive.  I think the food was OK, but we were already put off by the staff.  It was only as we were getting ready to leave that things turned around.  We had arrived late in the evening and so they were prepping to close and we had walked out to the deck to take some sunset photos. When we came back to our table we had a different waiter clearing our plates who was charming and we could see that if we had been seated at his tables, our experience would have been much more positive.

If this is the same restaurant as the Agave Cocina & Cantina in the Kent Station, they’ll have very fresh Mexican food. I never thought I could love a cauliflower salad! Fingers crossed they’re related or as good.
