Looking for a job? Dozens of West Seattle employers will be looking for you – in one place, one time

9:09 AM: Tomorrow’s the day for this year’s West Side Job Fair – 10 am-1 pm Tuesday (September 18th) in The Junction, with more than 30 local employers interviewing for more than 100 jobs. From office to restaurant, medical practices to schools, and more. Just show up, and be sure to bring multiple copies of your resumé – the West Side Job Fair is at Great American Diner and Bar (4752 California SW). WSB is media sponsor again this year, since we work all year to connect employers with prospective employees via free job listings.

9:09 PM: Here’s the updated list of employers planning to be there and the positions for which they’re hiring.

A bit insensitive.  Especially towards the people who have been applying for work and who have not been able to obtain employment.

How about my excuse- I was fired from my job at UW in 2013 for my severe depression even though I had a doctors note. I’ve been trying since then to find a job but no luck. Last year I found out that the reason I haven’t been hired is because all this time, UW has been giving potential employers a bad recommendation of me. I’m almost bankrupt and homeless. So when an employer says they don’t discriminate, they sure as hell do. Thanks for making me feel worse about myself because there’s no excuse for not working.

Cynical Girl:OMG – Get on-line; go to seattle.gov; choose Search from the menu at left side of page (3 bars in a square); type SOCR into search box; look for “need help” in the list of articles that appear. Then take action! If this is what has happened to you, it is so very illegal (both City & Federal) to discriminate in the workplace because of a disibility.  And diagnosed depression is a disability under Civil Rights Act(s).There are people in the City who will help you. The force be with you.

Sorry, comment time is over.
