Happy September! From the WSB West Seattle Event Calendar, highlights for your Saturday:

BIKE RIDE: “Work It, West Seattle,” a ride exploring local labor history. Free and fun. Starts at 9:30 am at Delridge Community Center. (4501 Delridge Way SW)

POOLS: The forecast sounds promising, so the Lincoln Park wading pool should be open, 11 am-8 pm (MIDMORNING UPDATE: The city will NOT open wading pools today.) Also in Lincoln Park, Colman Pool was repaired earlier this week and will be open, noon-7 pm. (8011 Fauntleroy Way SW)

BENEFIT BARBECUE: 11 am-2 pm at West Seattle Thriftway (WSB sponsor), as previewed here last night, meet Dave from ShelterBox USA and help the disaster-relief organization by buying lunch at the benefit barbecue! (4201 SW Morgan)

HIGH HOLY DAYS PREPARATION WORKSHOP: 6 pm at Kol HaNeshamah. Details in our calendar listing. (6115 SW Hinds)

IN-STORE CONCERT: 7 pm, the School of Rock House Band plays Easy Street Records. Free, all ages! (California/Alaska)

    I gotta thank you for putting Coleman pool’s unscheduled closures on your site,  it makes it so much easier than calling them (they’re not always there) or checking their website, or just remembering to check at all.   thanks !

      That’s what we’re here for – and we really appreciate the original tipster who flagged us when the pool closed in the middle of the day. Speaking of pool closures, the city’s indoor Southwest Pool is closing Sept. 13th through Oct. 14th for scheduled work. I’ve been trying to get more details from Parks before writing a story but have failed so far … TR
