CRIME WATCH FOLLOWUPS: Another charge, arrest for Gregory Thompson; new court date for Kierra Ward

Checking the court files, followups on two people whose cases we’ve been following:

GREGORY THOMPSON: Since last we checked on Thompson in late April, the Puget Ridge man police say was found with drugs and guns, he’s gotten out of jail again – and been booked back in again. After his April 23rd arrest on warrants, he got out on May 5th. Then on May 9th, he was arrested again – not just in connection with the previous cases, but also related to a new charge: Possession of a stolen vehicle. Court documents say surveillance video links Thompson to a vehicle reported here on WSB after it was stolen – a red F-250 pickup truck – and that a WSB reader found it parked in front of a house in Westwood. Thompson’s in jail in lieu of $125,000 bail.

KIERRA WARD: The defendant in last October’s Admiral stabbing attack has another new court date. Today Ward’s trial-readiness hearing was postponed again, this time to June 8th, because of ongoing trial preparations. Ward has been in jail in lieu of $400,000 bail since the day she was arrested, after a mother was stabbed while out for a walk with her baby.

He got out on a $110,000 bail last time.

    1. If he has to steal for a living, how can he make bail? Drug money I assume.

    2. If $110,000 was not a deterrent, why would $125,000 help?

Sounds like he will be out on the street in no time.

The $110,000 bail was actually fairly fleeting – almost half of it was related to the probable cause for a possible firearm charge (in possession of a pistol he couldn’t legally have because he’s a convicted felon) that to date has not been filed. So when he posted bond, I believe it was more like $60,000 bail.

wow. no wonder Mr Thompson keeps committing crimes – he keeps getting released.

then we have Ms Ward, still waiting for her trial due to “preparations”, again. very weird.

No, it’s not weird at all. Most cases progress that way – hearing, new date, hearing, new date, hearing, new date, eventually a plea or trial. We just don’t report on them as incrementally.

To me 60K is a lot of money, he must have a family member that put their home or something up to cover his bond. That’s a shame they should be putting that money up to get him the help he needs for his addictions.

Don’t feel too sorry. Drug dealers have a lot of cash on hand.

Anyone with collateral (or has someone willing to commit their assets as collateral on their behalf) has the option of obtaining a bail bond.

This Thompson loser doesn’t deserve this much attention.

He owns the house that was raded plus he owns another home in burien. This makes bail easy.

Sorry, comment time is over.
