West Seattle scene: School’s out!

Thanks to SBRE for today’s in-bus photo – as we remind you again that Seattle Public Schools are getting out an hour early today, last day of classes. Summer vacation continues until the first day of classes, September 6th (for kindergarteners, September 11th). And schedules will be different next year, as announced on June 15th, including weekly early dismissals on Wednesdays. Happy summer to all!

I thought they were already out! The Gatewood Money Grabber (er, School Zone) flashing lights weren’t on at the normal time this morning. :)

And conversely, at least two school zones (STEM and Lafayette) had their lights flashing on Saturday (Lafayette doesn’t have a speed-ticket cam, STEM does). Maybe some faulty end-of-year programming…

The lights on 16th weren’t flashing for Highland Park or Sanislo ES either at their usual morning times. Still went 20 mph, and was thankful that the person behind me didn’t tailgate me as drivers often do, even when the lights ARE flashing.

I was coming home from running errands and followed a school bus. It was so great at each stop to see the kids hug the bus driver as they departed. Rave to the bus drivers who take care of our community children! This was on SW 48th / Erskine.

OLG still had their flashers on Friday afternoon. I thought they got out weeks ago. Is that allowed for the lights to be on when no school is session?

Shouldn’t have been, but if you ever see flashers on when you know there’s no school, call it in – 206-684-ROAD (SDOT hotline) is a good place to start.
