ATTENTION, DELRIDGE BUSINESSES: This survey is for you!

The Delridge Business Survey and Outreach Project is on!

The goal: Reaching, engaging, and learning from Delridge’s many businesses, to gather information that will support “community-led business development in the area,” which hasn’t before had a “shared Delridge economic development vision.”

The project is an offshoot of the Delridge Action Plan, and funded by a city grnat, but, Delridge-area businessperson Parie Hines of LD Arch Design (WSB sponsor) tells us, it’s “led by neighborhood residents and businesses, in addition to the Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association and the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce.”

If you have a business in the Delridge area, between SW Spokane and SW Sylvan Way (South Delridge is not included in this project) – they want to hear from you. “Neighborhood ambassadors” will be making in-person visits in the weeks ahead, and you might get a phone call, but even before someone contacts you, you can answer the survey right now or as soon as you have a few minutes to spare – find it here.

Once the survey is complete, Hines says, the project report, summarizing findings and priorities, will be public in August. Project background is also viewable on the DNDA website and the West Seattle Chamber website.

It’s so disappointing to see Delridge being split like this.  It really should be called “North Delridge Business District Survey” because  excluding South Delridge from a “Delridge District Business Survey” is misleading in its intentions.

      I absolutely agree.

I asked about that. As this stems from what was originally called the North Delridge Action Plan, then morphed into the Delridge Action Plan, the coverage area remained the same. Also, the South Delridge businesses have had some economic-development attention as part of the greater White Center area, apparently.

Per the DNDA North Delridge  historically was bounded by Holden in the south.  When did this change?  Sylvan as the boundry puts Home Depot and the Police station in South Delridge.  Historically they have been considered North Delridge.

Thank you all for the questions and feedback. It is true that it would be better named as the “North Delridge Business Survey.” The intention was not to try to split Delridge, or to imply that South Delridge isn’t important to consider, but to focus in depth on these north end areas — the “neighborhood nodes” of the neighborhood plan — that have not had much economic development study or attention in recent years.

And also, the survey will include the businesses around the “Sylvan Node” area, which would be better defined by a south border of Holden Street. Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry, comment time is over.
