Velco, you were great to work for and with. As a sports official it was always a privilege to work your games, either baseball or basketball. We were always treated with respect from you and your players. Thanks for the memories Velco, the sports are better because of coaches like yourself.

I retired from WSHS a few years ago. I continued to go to the baseball games just to watch Val coach. I wish him luck in all of his future plans. A new coach may fill the roll, but will never take his place.

Velko was not only a great coach but a great player as a kid as well. Won the WSHS Outstanding Athlete award, and was a great teammate and has been a friend for nearly 50 years. Very proud to have set a Metro League record for double plays with him at second base in 1972. West Seattle loses someone who cared about the game, the kids who played for him and the community in which he grew up.

velko is a class act and is leaving at the top of his game, although i'm sure I'm not the only person that will be sorry to see him go.

someone needs to make sure that there's a vip seat for him in the dugout or in the home bleacher section for future games!

thanks for giving so many kids the amazing athletic opportunities you did. you changed more than a few lives and made many realize their potential.
