11:03 PM: On partner site White Center Now, we’re covering a shooting that happened in WC about half an hour ago. A man has serious but not life-threatening injuries. The shooter is said to have fled north toward Roxbury so Seattle Police are helping with a wide-ranging search in case he’s in West Seattle. Updates as we get them.
12:04 AM: No further information from KCSO, but we expect to get more details later this morning and will update here and on WCN.
Our information is directly from the Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, who’s saying serious but not life-threatening. As for the reported locations, I just went out to drive by both the Safeway and 15th/98th. KCSO units at both but not big massive lights-and-rollers situations. KCSO says they weren’t able to find out more from the victim because he was unconscious.
Well something happened at the Roxbury Safeway, as there is a large part of the parking lot blocked off with crime scene tape and there are several police and sheriff’s units on site.
It happened at Safeway. My friend was there when it happened.
Did this happen in the general parking lot area or inside the store?
Just talked to Sgt. West again.
1. The victim is NOT dead.
2. Where it happened, investigators don’t know. If the commenter’s friend who says they saw it happened has NOT talked to investigators, please call 911 and ask how to reach a detective, Sgt. West requests. They were at the Safeway parking lot because of a report of somebody “running” concurrent with when they found out the shooting victim had called for help from a car at 98th and 15th.
