Police serve ‘drug-related warrant’ at two West Seattle locations including Corner Pocket

That police car with rollers going on southbound California just north of Alaska tonight was there as part of a warrant-related police operation at the Corner Pocket bar. After getting a tip, we went there and found police at the bar’s basement door; a sergeant on scene told us it was one of two West Seattle locations at which they were “coordinating” service of a warrant he described as “drug-related.” The other location, we learned, was a residence northeast of Morgan Junction. Our research into warrant and court records has not yet yielded further details; we will be following up.

There was a lot of police/fire/ambulance activity just north of 39th and Raymond at about the same time.  Related?

I heard the Corner Pocket was closed.

It was still closed when we went back to look, about an hour after we spoke to police there (they were gone when we returned). But I wasn’t able to go back yet again before publishing this to see if that was still the case.

Unfortunately, The Pocket is going to be closed for quite a while. According to the Liquor Control Board representative that was present during that whole fiasco with the Police, the Board shut the bar down for 6 whole months…

Usually there would be something posted to that effect outside an establishment targeted with something like that and we didn’t see anything when we went back after police left, but we’ll look again today. I’m not likely to be able to reach the LCB over the weekend but will try. – TR

The Corner Pocket was alright when it first first opened but it got sketchy.  I’m so not surprised about this

Thank goodness! Now maybe we can put a bar in there that serves $15 cocktails and oven roasted pizzas! We don’t have enough of those already. Then we can walk across the street to Starbucks for a nightcap!

I think you are kidding, at least I hope so! I miss Seattle so much. This city has no identity anymore, hurts my soul!

where are we supposed to go for nice pool tables now? Pocket was the only spot in west seattle with 9 foot slate tables. Unfortunately this was a “sketchy bar” to some. But for most people this was a legit pool hall. Home of official pool teams. :( There goes my hobby…….

Just a note that we have not yet confirmed anything about the post-warrant-service closure – the commenter upthread might be correct, or might not be. I am hoping to reach the WSLCB first thing tomorrow morning. – Tracy
