Another new restaurant is on the way to The Admiral District. The space at 2311 California SW where Angelina’s closed in May is going to become Arthur’s. We reached Rebecca Rice, who is opening Arthur’s in partnership with Sara Levin, and here’s what she told us:

We at Arthur’s are really excited to get things underway here in West Seattle — my business partner and I have spent many years as West Seattle residents and we’re looking forward to realizing a dream that serves our beloved neighborhood.

We are currently working with a village of friends and family to bring a comfortable, inviting, and beautiful place to enjoy food, drink, and relaxation from morning until evening. With breakfast served all day seven days a week, a menu that reflects the rise in interest in clean eating alongside early morning, afternoon, and nighttime café staples, and an approachable and beautiful bar (and dining!) space, Arthur’s is looking forward to contributing to an already vibrant and cozy part of West Seattle.

Arthur’s is “aiming for a mid-January open.”

Congrats!! Would you consider or be able to provide some gluten free options that are not cross contaminated? It’s very hard to find restaurants that can accommodate Celiacs.

    -best of luck

  • HKB November 17, 2016 (2:38 pm)

We so look forward to this type of restaurant.   We so very much miss the Charlestown Cafe where we could have a nice breakfast,  lunch….etc.    Thank you also for having healthier food.   Presume children can come too?—family restaurant?   Thank you so much for rescuing us from the many pizza restaurants around & bringing us what sounds like a wonderful place to go to eat.

  • Diane November 17, 2016 (6:36 pm)

  • Julia November 17, 2016 (8:00 pm)

I was just thinking West Seattle needed a Julia’s. Arthur’s will do. Can’t wait.

  • sari November 17, 2016 (8:21 pm)

can’t wait! as a family with serious food allergies, hearing “clean eating” is definitely a promising description!

  • Stuart November 17, 2016 (8:27 pm)

Wondering if all day breakfast can be “clean ” but still serve up eggs bacon and hash browns???? Would love a classic diner for breakfast fare!

  • Junction Lady November 17, 2016 (9:13 pm)

Sounds like a wonderful addition to California Avenue!

  • Erithan November 17, 2016 (9:35 pm)

This sounds awesome! As Somone else said, I to really miss the charlstone cafe. I miss Angelina’s as well of course, but plenty of Italian about. -. o My dad should be ecstatic on the all day breakfast front!

Wow. Who wants “dirty eating”?  Clean eating is a ridiculous phrase. Say “sustainable” or “Healthy” or “Seattle eating” or anything else… your gonna turn off folks with”clean eating”…

a “Julia’s” type joint would be awesome!!!  Bfast all day sounds great. Don’t be afraid of comfort food.  Looking forward to you joining the hood.

by “clean” it seems the idea is that all the ingredients are identifiable. I, am a lazy, fat American so all I care about is if it’s tasty or not. I keep hoping for Ezell’s to move in so that let’s you know my taste.

The one by Garfield High School isn’t THAT far away. Meantime, work is under way on the future Popeye’s site in White Center.

“Clean eating” is one of those buzzwords that actually makes sense. Same with the ridiculously overused “local” and “sustainable” – although those can be interpreted many ways.  I like the idea of local, sustainable dining, as long as sustainable also means it provides sustenance! Clean eating is better than dirty dining, I guess.

Another one of “those” words: artisan. Yes, great in theory. But in reality, it sometimes simply means we can charge an extra dollar or two.

Nice and with Admiral Theatre upgrades reduces the need to drive.  Walking is great.  A breakfast spot is just what is needed

  • Nancy R November 18, 2016 (6:17 pm)

I love this description of clean eating!   So hard to find healthy food not dripping with salt,  fat, and calories.   Great cooks don’t need to use these shortcuts.   Look forward to Arthurs in the ‘hood!

  • Artsea November 19, 2016 (7:18 am)

The list of places we like to go for a meal at noon has been diminishing in recent years.  This sounds like the kind of place we’d like to add to our choices.  Hurrah!

  • Don Admiral November 20, 2016 (12:05 pm)

Arthur’s is going to be YUUUUGE!

    Make Breakfast Great Again.
