UPDATE: Police searching Delridge/High Point for warrant suspect

img_5395

12:23 PM: Thanks for the tips – if you’re seeing police in North Delridge (we’ve heard 26th SW/SW Graham and the 5900 block of Delridge Way, as well as points west), they’re looking for someone they were trying to arrest in connection with a warrant, not a current incident. Apparently the suspect fled as police were moving in. Helicopter involvement too, tipsters are telling us.

12:33 PM: Our crew has arrived in the area and has confirmed the same thing – no info on what kind of warrant (except that it’s for a felony case). The ground search includes a K-9 team.

helicopter circling high point for at least 10 minutes now…

Part of the search so far as we know; our crew isn’t there yet. They’re searching the hillsides up to HP too, per scanner.

Chopper’s leaving. No arrest reported yet.

Yep, as soon as I heard the chopper, I figured something was up.  Been doing circles for awhile now.  I have my windows open, so it was fun trying to explain to my coworkers what was going on.

Yep there is a whole fragale of police units down here off of 25th ave SW with chopper presence.

Any word on school lock down for the Boren building? YMCA preschool is released at 1 and no one is answering the phone.

    • WSB September 21, 2016 (12:41 pm)

Bogie – via scanner, police said the school did not need to go into lockdown. The search is continuing but I believe it’s focused more to the west, away from the school. Looking for somebody on warrants does NOT necessarily mean they’re wanted for a major or even violent crime … just last night at the Crime Prevention Council meeting, the precinct commander had said that they’re continuing to make an effort to go out and catch frequent offenders for whom warrants are out, and this might be part of that, since it was NOT related to a new crime today – TR

I’ve been hearing helicopter for a while too.  I live on 26th, right next to hill that leads up to High Point so chopper keeps flying over my house. Just wondering what a “suspiciuos person” is and if I should be concerned?

    Thank you!

Helicopter is gone, but I have a car parked in the corner of my street.  I think it might be an unmarked police car, I saw an officer drive by give him a look and turned back around. It would be nice if we could get a description of the suspect.

They’re still searching and holding containment on the ground, last we heard. No description or even what kind of crime the suspect’s wanted for, sorry; police make warrant arrests all the time but once in a while somebody bolts. If we find out anything more, of course, we’ll update. – TR

Police still searching 5900 block of 26th Ave SW.  They’re letting cars up and down the street so I doubt they have K-9 with them.  They usually close the street for K-9.

    • WSB September 21, 2016 (1:35 pm)

K-9 was searching the hillside to HP.

I live on 26th, several police officers on foot with K9 off leash, they’re looking through all of the brush and opened our common gate to Longfellow Creek.

There appears to be a ditched Ford Focus on Juneau and several other officers down at the intersection.

  • JC September 21, 2016 (1:57 pm)

Search on 26th has ended.  No Ford Focus on Juneau, probably another unmarked police car.  I’ve seen a couple of patrol cars drive down the street but no one on foot.

What happen after all did they find the suspect or did he get away?

Sorry, comment time is over.
