From the ‘in case you wondered too’ file: West Seattle bus-shelter updates

Just in case you see either of these and wonder – thanks to tips, we’ve already checked them out:

RAPIDRIDE SHELTER AT FAUNTLEROY/ALASKA: Christine Deppe from West Seattle Office Junction (WSB sponsor) sent the photo and wondered about the removal of the shelter next to Les Schwab:

Metro’s Jeff Switzer responded to our inquiry: “The small shelter was removed today and will be upgraded to a larger shelter, to be installed tomorrow (Friday, July 22nd).

BROKEN GLASS AT 45TH/ADMIRAL: Al sent the photo:

Since we were already asking about the Triangle shelter mentioned above, we asked about this too. Switzer says, “Thanks for the heads-up. Staff are submitting a work order to repair the glass at that shelter.”

I’m wondering if, after construction is completed on the Aura apartment building at 4435 35th Ave. SW, the Rapid Ride stop will be returned to it’s old position, which would be now be in front of the apartment building (the stop is called 35th and Avalon).

It’s been in what I hope is only a temporary spot at 35th and Snoqualmie.  I heard a rumor that it’d be put back where it was, but I’m wondering if that’s really true and if so, when that will happen. Does anyone know?

WS Since – I actually asked Metro that question today while I was asking about these two shelters, and decided to hold onto the reply for a separate story later, but since you asked, here’s the reply from Metro spokesperson Jeff Switzer: “The developer still has some work on the sidewalk and electrical connections need to be re-established before we are able to reopen the stop in August. The stop will include a small RapidRide shelter, extensive awnings on the building and benches provided by the developer, a kiosk with real time information and ORCA reader to be reinstalled.” – TR

Thanks, TR!  That’s great news.  I’m glad that the developers will be adding benches.

I see we have  our share of petty criminal miscreants in the Admiral District, too.  “I will do this because I can  and because I’m a little shyte”   :(

Have they ever mentioned anything about finally getting RapidRide on Delridge as well?

That continues to be mentioned in various forums as in the works. Don’t have a timeline, though. It would replace the 120 and not everyone is thrilled with the idea because it would mean as is typical for RapidRide, fewer bus stops, farther apart.

Sorry, comment time is over.
