West Seattle Crime Watch update: Suspect arrested after police search on Beach, Atlas Drives

2:28 PM: If you’ve seen the police presence on Atlas Drive and, below it, in/around the 5900 block of Beach Drive – officers are searching for at least one suspected prowler/burglar. More to come.

2:38 PM: Our crew has arrived in the area and learned from a sergeant at the scene that the suspect(s) abandoned a car that’s been confirmed as stolen. A K-9 team is searching on Atlas and we can’t get close enough to verify, but the scanner described the vehicle as a silver Honda CR-V. Police also have found a knife believed to have been dropped by the/a suspect as they fled downhill from Atlas to Beach.

WSB: how long will this guy actually spend behind bars?   I know you don’t know now but I would like you to track this.   Thanks in advance.

I would love to know how thr police knew this was happening and what they were looking for- so much more to the story! But great job spd keeping my neighborhood safe.

I’ll try to get the report tomorrow – sometimes it takes a few days. Names are usually redacted, so trying to get the suspect’s name is a whole ‘nother story, but we’ll do our best.

Thank you SPD. There were several officers driving through the alleys and streets above Atlas, so I’m glad to know that they were able to apprehend the perp. Thanks to all who would have called in tips to SPD as well.

Who can I get in touch with about more info on these people? I’ve been watching them for some time now.

Any new news to report on this item?

    • WSB April 8, 2016 (1:19 pm)

I requested the report yesterday, amid all the other breaking news. SPD was not able to provide it as the public-affairs unit was busy with getting out the dashcam video etc. on the Highland Park case (as seen here) and asked me to repeat the request today, which I have. Nothing yet.

Still trying to get the report from Seattle Police. If anyone in the neighborhood has the incident number, that might help, as it never appeared on Tweets by Beat.

Hi, thanks, that information and details about the charges filed against him as well as the warrant that was out for him are all in the followup we published yesterday (linked above) – TR

That is my stolen car that he crashed and is being towed away in the picture.  Nice to have closure. The SPD detective didn’t think that he was the one who stole it, but it was obvious that it had been stolen so he might be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

Sorry, comment time is over.
