Thanks to everyone who’s already registered to be part of West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2016 on Saturday, May 14th! After the first full day of registration, we have more than 40 sales signed up so far. A spot check of the registrations shows they’re from neighborhoods all over the peninsula, including Arbor Heights, Sunrise Heights, Fauntleroy, Highland Park, Genesee Hill, The Junction, Admiral, Puget Ridge, South Delridge, Westwood, Avalon, High Point, Belvidere, North Delridge, Seaview, Gatewood, Alki … with listings from “Selling everything to travel the world!” to “Shoes, shoes, shoes!” WSCGSD is one big day with sales of all sizes, all over the peninsula, mapped online (clickably) and in a printable/PDF version, published well in advance to provide plenty of planning time. If you’re having a sale, sign up when you’re ready by going here!

Distracted driving, walking, biking, and parking days in your neighborhood. I think the garage sale is a good idea but it’s just too big.

Is there a list of what a person can and cannot sell?  Where would that be?

    • WSB April 7, 2016 (5:43 pm)

Linda – we have never regulated what can and can’t be sold. These are private garage/yard/rummage sales, and the American tradition for those is pretty much, you never know what you’ll find. But as with everything on our site, we maintain an all-ages, above-board atmosphere, so if we ever came across something questionable in a listing – which to date we have not, after eight years of coordinating this – we would likely contact the seller and discuss the situation. If you have a specific question, you are welcome to e-mail our special mailbox for this, garagesale@westseattleblog.com – thank you. – Tracy

What’s the deadline for signing up?

    • WSB April 8, 2016 (8:45 am)

Hi – we usually keep registration open for about three weeks and announce when we’re cutting it off depending on how things are going. So it won’t be before 4/25.

Can anyone tell me…Is the $12 fee tax deductible?

    • WSB April 9, 2016 (11:02 am)

No. We are a business, not a nonprofit.
