Former Chief Sealth International HS principal Chris Kinsey dies

Family and friends are mourning former Chief Sealth International High School principal Chris Kinsey, who died last weekend at just 43 years old. No details are available, and there’s no word yet of a memorial service. Mr. Kinsey was an assistant principal at Cleveland High School for three years before taking over at Sealth in the fall of 2011; he led CSIHS for two school years before announcing in June 2013 that he had decided not to return for a third year. He did not disclose his future plans at that time, and all Seattle Public Schools could tell us today was that he was not an SPS employee at the time of his death. According to biographical information from the district provided when he became Sealth’s interim principal in August 2011, Mr. Kinsey started his education career in 1999 as a teacher at Meany Middle School. This is such sad news, he was a good guy, he really loved the kids. He went to all the sports games and was so easy to talk to for the parents and the kids. Hi office door was always open. I really appreciated him.
    Rest in Peace.

I taught in a school in which Chris Kinsey was a house administrator. He was absolutely fabulous with the kids and especially showed great interest, kindness, and love for children in need. He was a champion of the underdog, and I admired him so much for his compassion, caring, and dedication.

This is a terrific loss and absolutely so many will remember his great contributions to children.

Though he may not have been there for its entirety, Mr. Kinsey was an important and wonderful part of my high school experience. I can’t believe that he’s gone from us so soon… Mr. Kinsey, you will be missed.

That’s very sad news. I’ve known Mr. Kinsey when I first came to Eckstein Middle School in my 8th grade year and when he came to Cleveland High School since I was in 10th grade and 11th grade. He was one of the best principals who ever taught me for my problems I was been through. He’s a heart and soul as he’ll be in my memories forever. R.I.P. thank you Mr. Kinsey for everything and I’ll miss you forever!
