UPDATE: Driver hits parked vehicle, flips car on Fauntleroy Way

11:32 PM: Thanks to the reader who just texted that photo and word of the rollover crash at Fauntleroy Way and SW Findlay, saying the driver hit the parked vehicle and flipped their own. The Seattle Fire response closed fairly quickly, so as far as we know, no serious injuries.

7:27 AM: The driver is under investigation for DUI.

Jesus! I could drive better drunk and in reverse than these people. 26+ years of driving with zero at-fault accidents. Driving should not be this difficult!

As people like to say, “Wow, just wow.”

Totally agree Buck. Drunk in reverse lol.

How do so many people flip their cars? I mean I know how it’s possible but it seems more common these days vs in the 80’s and 90’s. Are cars lighter now? I know SUVs have a higher center of gravity. So maybe that is it? Never a dull moment that’s for sure..

My only rollover accident was in a VW Bug in Chief Sealth parking lot in 1973,16, sober and 6:00 AM. Lots of years and miles later haven’t reproduced it. Time to practice.

If you are old enough, you will remember that a flipped car was rare indeed. To me it looks strange to see them turtled up side down.
    .
And yes they are lighter. The weight distribution might have something to do with it since the transmission is up front, and the differential is not holding down the rear end.

Stiffer penalties for DUI would be a start. It’s possible for a first time offender to only lose their license for 90 days.

There are signs of eventual crackdowns; I’m working on a followup about a recent case in which somebody – without having injured anyone, as far as I can tell – is facing serious prison time.

Yes, it is about time for stiffer penalties for DUI and crimes in general.

I now understand why everyone wanted lower speeds. You are horrendous drivers. Please don’t ever drive in a real city. You might have to pay attention

Cell phones! What used to be a side swipe is now a roll over

Like I’ve said before I think the streets in WS have some kind of magnetic pull and when cars get tipped a little on their sides well…there they go! LOL!!!

Any idea when the car is going to be moved? I passed by it twice today at different times and it was still there. Is that normal?

Sorry, comment time is over.
