UPDATE: Hit-run crash at SB 99 ramp to westbound West Seattle Bridge

6:50 PM: If you’re just about to head this way – you might consider 1st, 4th, the low bridge, or I-5 because of a crash at the southbound 99 ramp to the westbound high bridge. SFD has just cleared, but police are still there.

6:59 PM: SDOT says the scene has cleared but “residual delays” are likely for a while.

8:34 PM: In comments, KJB says a hit-run driver is to blame and is asking for help if anyone’s seen a “silver wagon-type” vehicle with “significant damage to the passenger front.”

PLEASE I was the victim in this crash! I was rear ended and the car that hit me took off. If anyone witnessed the crash PLEASE help! There was a metro bus behind us and many other cars, but no one stopped to see if I was OK – disappointed in West Seattle right now..and in case anyone cares, I am not OK and neither is my car that I have only had for 2 weeks.

the car that hit me was a silver wagon type car – the car has significant damage to the passenger front of the vehicle.

I am so sorry to hear this. Didn’t hear about the crash for a while, we were in transit elsewhere, but I’ve added your info for starters to the story above. If an incident # shows up on Tweets by Beat, or if you have one, it would help to add so that people have a reference for 911 if they have a possible suspect. – TR

If you all could be so kind as to cut my mom some slack in regards to her emotional post above, that would be much appreciated. She is pretty shaken up about it all and very upset. We believe it was a silver car, possibly a wagon that hit her. 2 white male occupants and there would be damage to the front passenger side of their car. They entered 99 at Columbia and traveled across two lanes before curting her off so she honked which led to them to flip her off. Somehow she ended up in front of them later when they got to the West Seattle Bridge and she heard a clinking noise on her car and realized the passenger appeared to be throwing something at her car, like small rocks or change, who knows. She stopped with the rest of the traffic in front of her in the far right lane and the car rear ended her. She said as they drove off they were pointing ahead, so she’s not sure if they were signaling for her to follow them off the bridge or what (trying real hard not to assume they are just horrible people), but her car was pretty crunched in back and she just pulled over, totally freaked out. No license plate, as it was too bright at 6ish. So…if you can provide any info that might help, that would very much appreciated. And if you are one of these dudes, the fire department had some pieces of your car.

Hey, no slack-cutting needed — of course she was shaken up, and had every right to an emotional post. Hope she feels better, and that the silver car folks come forward.

First,I am sick this happened. Also, I’m trying hard to follow, but did these guys head to WS bridge and keep heading West? I’m sorry ,this is horrible.

Thanks HappyOnAlki :) She will appreciate that. I just know how comments on the blog can be sometimes and was worried she might be given a hard time for posting while pissed. Most important thing is she’s not hurt. Now we gotta get her brand new car fixed. Really really lame end to the day and I think the fact that not a single person stopped really made her sad.

Alki resident, yes…they continued west. I wasn’t there, but I’m thinking her lane was backed up (Delridge and Harbor Ave/Admiral exits ahead), which is why the traffic in front of her stopped. She thinks they were about to zip around her on the left, but hit her instead. The other lanes must not have been stopped, so they were able to continue west and leave.

Kjb, so sorry this happened to you

That’s awful, i am so sorry!
I have noticed people being more selfish on the road. Cars don’t even get out of the way for emergency vehicles!! it really pisses me off when I see that. A life could depend on you but you can’t be bothered to pull over.

The car hit my car, backed up and headed west on the west Seattle bridge.

So sorry. If i had been there i would have pulled over to help. How scary. Hope you are ok and your car can be fixed.

What a scary, upsetting experience! I doubt anyone here blames Kjb for being emotional – who wouldn’t be?

I swear to you – it seems like in the past 9 months or so all the XXXXXXXXs moved to West Seattle. I’ve never seen anything like the driving here at all in the 15 years I’ve lived in this wonderful town. And double parking, tailgating seems to be the norm for these new folks. Just wait till the new towers are built, you won’t be able to drive anywhere!

My theory? They were commuting together and that car is currently in a garage in West Seattle and will be for awhile. I think they’re driving the other guys car for now.

Sorry, comment time is over.
