From the WSB West Seattle Event Calendar:

HOUSING FORUM: 12:30-2:30 pm at the Senior Center of West Seattle, hosted by City Councilmember Tom Rasmussen – come hear and ask about housing issues including affordability and renters’ rights. The focus is on, but not limited to, seniors – all are welcome. (Oregon/California)

COMMUNITY ORCHARD OF WEST SEATTLE: 5-7 pm on the north end of the South Seattle College (WSB sponsor) campus, drop by, pitch in!

WEST SEATTLE DEMOCRATIC WOMEN: 6 pm, a night of political parody – check ASAP to see if any room remains. West Seattle Golf Course clubhouse. (4470 35th SW)

WEST SEATTLE TRANSPORTATION COALITION: 6:30 pm at Neighborhood House‘s High Point Center, tonight’s agenda includes talking about West Seattle priorities for the transportation levy – what do you think should be in the letter WSTC writes about that? – and hearing from board candidates. (6400 Sylvan Way)

‘ANGRY HOUSEWIVES’ OPENING NIGHT: 7:30 pm at ArtsWest Playhouse (WSB sponsor), it’s back, 30 years after the first production, the show that is still in the books as having “the longest sold-out run of a musical in Seattle history.”

this is specifically an AFFORDABLE housing forum, especially for renters; please show up at the Sr Ctr and share your rent increase horror stories with CM Rasmussen

and, there is a very important AFFORDABLE housing forum, all about renters and stopping insane rent increases, at City Hall tonight at 6pm; again, please show up at City Hall and share your rent increase horror stories with CM Licata and Sawant; the city hall event, which is in City Council chambers, will be televised; and hopefully every one of the council members will watch; and act, take bold actions to remedy our affordable housing crisis

    Sisters and Brothers,

Please join me at this Affordable Housing Town Hall meeting. There will be time for public comment, so bring your personal stories about skyrocketing rents.
    ~
Councilmember Licata and I will be unveiling a City Council Resolution that calls on the State Legislature to lift its undemocratic ban on rent control. We will also be discussing bold solutions to the affordable housing crisis, like a Tenants Bill of Rights and a massive public works program to build thousands of City-owned quality affordable housing units.
    ~
Finally, we will hear from some of the applicants for the City Council position vacated by Sally Clark. The person chosen will Chair the Housing Committee and we need a fierce advocate for affordable housing and tenant right!

    Kshama Sawant
