West Seattle restaurants: Alki Blue Moon Burgers opens tomorrow

(WSB photos)
After a friends-and-family event last night, Blue Moon Burgers on Alki is ready to officially open for business at 1 pm tomorrow (Monday, March 30th). Regular hours will be 11 am until 9 or 10 (they’ll be experimenting until summer arrives, when they’ll plan to be open until 11 pm).

(Kilie at the grill)
The menu includes build-your-own burger options, sandwiches (BLT, grilled cheese, more), vegan options, chicken tenders, salads, sides, and other food options, plus 12 beers on tap, and milkshakes too. Alki Blue Moon general manager JR Gifford – who grew up in WS – told us two of the three fryers are gluten-free. Another feature: You’ll be able to text an order, then drive or ride up into one of two pick-up spots out front, and run in to get it. The site has about a dozen spots in all for customers (fitting, given that in its former life, it was an auto-repair shop; we first reported the burger-switchover plan almost a year ago). It’s at 2504 Alki Ave. SW.

Love the drive-up option. I really wish Pegasus offered something like this, because getting pizzas to go can be a major pain — you almost need two people to do so lately. I will be checking out Blue Moon soon to see how they compare to my current burger faves, Zippys and the Swinery.

    YES!

I look forward to trying their home made black bean burger!

Am I the only one who wonders why we need another burger place on Alki? This makes three burger-centric businesses in the restaurant core, plus plenty of other spots to grab a burger. I’m sure I’ll give it a try, but it would have been nice to have a little more variety on the beach.

    John,
I think you’ll like their menu. So much more than a burger joint, with salads, milkshakes and 12 beers on tap. Do we “need” another burger place? Of course we do!

This burger joint plus would have been nicer on California in the Alaska Junction instead of a Chipotle:/.

Excited that Blue Moon is finally opening! John, beg to differ because Blue Moon promises to be the only sit down burger joint worth visiting. My family tried Fatburger once and walked out when it took more than 10 minutes to get acknowledged by a server in an empty restaurant full of dirty tables. Pepperdock is great for ice cream, but not really a sit down joint. The drive up and text option is the best kind of innovation, too!

Why is it that the only thing I’m seeing in the picture, is a women (with long hair) not wearing any type of hair netting/hat/etc…I thought that was a health department thing… What’s worse, is saying that out loud and hearing myself becoming “old”….

Do they have pedal-powered vehicle parking? Alki needs to attract more cars? This should do it.

True test of a food establishment is how the food turns out when they’re busy. Went there opening night and they were swamped, so there was quite a wait. It was well worth the wait as our food was delicious, cooked to perfection. Kudos…I know I’ll be going back often.

Ordered online last night and picked it up. They were super busy but still super courteous. Only bummers were that two of three burgers were prepared wrong, the soda machine stopped working so they gave us bottle water instead, and they forgot our fries and onion rings. I will try them again as I know opening night can be frantic. Hopefully they can at least get the orders correct. Fat Burger seems a better quality meat. Does Blue Moon use frozen patties? I think so.

Sorry, comment time is over.
