(WSB photo: Delridge north of Juneau. Most seriously damaged car at right, pushed up onto planting strip)
6:20 AM: Thanks for the tips about a police search under way in the 5900 block of Delridge Way and vicinity, including a K-9 team. They’re looking for a driver reported to have fled after a hit-run crash that damaged several cars. No description so far.

6:41 AM: A suspect has reportedly been found and is getting medical treatment.

    what time was this at??

    • WSB February 14, 2015 (6:41 am)

      Within the past hour.

Suspect was a Hispanic male, mid 20s – 30s, shirtless, with mid-length black hair in ponytail. Appeared to be intoxicated.

Let police into Longfellow Creek Apts. after I saw the suspect enter complex (unknown if suspect is a resident). Police tried to get him to come over to them, suspect ran off towards the trails. Police pursued and K9 was called in. About 10-15 minutes later, saw suspect again walking west on Juneau, alerted police. Police apprehended suspect. Suspect had facial lacerations (perhaps obtained during arrest) that medics treated. Suspect taken off in AMR ambulance.

    Several parked cars were damaged.

Thought that was you. Did find the most badly damaged car, adding photo momentarily.

@WSB – yeah I see and respond to most everything in the Delridge / Juneau area (if I’m home). After assessing the situation, I either call police and alert you’ll or just the latter, depending on what’s happening.

I try to keep a watch on neighborhood and be a helpful member of it.

Thank you for your vigilance Sagek. We live close by and in the last week have had two traffic circles and/or signs mangled on our side street by what I am assuming are drunk or speeding drivers. Feeling fed up about it. Sorry for all the folks impacted in this latest incident.

  • jeff February 14, 2015 (9:13 am)

Ironic given the discussion about speed limits. Thankfully there were no serious injuries.

    “perhaps obtained during arrest”

Really Sagek?? careful – your bias is showing…

Maybe the drunk degenerate fell into some blackberry bushes. Maybe he was injured in the wreck. Maybe you should keep your bias to yourself.

This happened to us last summer in the genesse area
Nothing happened to the idiots who were drunk and totaled our park car
Except I had to purchase a new car

  • helridge February 14, 2015 (10:34 am)

Sadly, drug and alcohol abuse impacts all of us and not just the user.

  • DellTroit February 14, 2015 (12:24 pm)

Thank you SageK for working out the situation with SPD.

  • CandrewB February 14, 2015 (12:31 pm)

Sorry to hear Plf. That is one of the things that angers me the most. I am guessing whoever hit your car didn’t nor will ever have a pot to pee in. It seems our gov will only go after those who have something to confiscate. Broke and unemployable? Please don’t do it again.

935…perhaps I’m obtuse, but I didn’t see any bias in SageK’s statement. And considering the rest of what she said, and her help in all of this, that’s all you can say? SageK, thanks for being so vigilant in your neighborhood…

  • SageK February 14, 2015 (1:07 pm)

@935 I’m sorry, my supposition on the nature of his injuries fills you with such vitriol. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, as I saw him several times, I can tell you that the injuries were not obtained during the accident, nor did he have them previous to walking down Juneau and being arrested. As such, I feel it is most likely that the injuries were obtained during arrest.

Furthermore, you know nothing about me other than the paragraph or two I’ve written here. Which I have tried only to give the facts as I know them.

If anything your “bias” is showing in your antagonistic comment.

    935-

    Your comment serves zero purpose

  • Mj February 14, 2015 (9:59 pm)

    935,
I was thinking the same thing! If you don’t see it for your own eyes. Don’t state it as fact!

  • ... February 14, 2015 (10:51 pm)

    Mj,
I’m pretty sure SageK stated “perhaps obtained during arrest.” I didn’t know perhaps was a full fledged statement of fact. Or did you decide not to even read the paragraph because it was too long for you?

Similar thing happened on my street about 2 years ago. Very drunk guy badly damaged/totaled 5 legally parked cars and tried to flee the scene but his car wouldn’t move and he seemed too drunk to walk away. No insurance, of course. He’s apparently a local comedian – looked up his Twitter and he was laughing about it and complaining about having to take the bus.

Sorry, comment time is over.
