The West Seattle High School girls-varsity basketball team moves on to the Metro League championship game after a hard-fought win Wednesday night, 53-39 over Holy Names. Lexi Ioane led the scoring with 20 points:

But this wasn’t just about the numbers:

As reported by our partners at The Seattle Times, Lydia Giomi and Gabby Sarver weren’t able to play. Their teammates fought on. Emily Fiso was second in Wildcat scoring, with 17 points:

Two more seniors kept the pressure on – Annalisa Ursino:

And Charli Elliott:

Joining them in the fray: Junior Lani Taylor:

And sophomore Izzy Turk (#3, center):

In the league-championship game Friday night, head coach Sonya Elliott and her team will face the defending state champs.

That’s Cleveland (who the Times’ Sandy Ringer reports beat Lakeside 71-65 in double OT), and the game’s at 5:45 pm Friday at Seattle Pacific University.
