West Seattle restaurants: Pagliacci expansion; Bamboo’s new name; New Year’s Eve dining

Restaurant updates today:

PAGLIACCI PIZZA EXPANDING IN WEST SEATTLE: After spotting construction-permit applications, we confirmed with Pagliacci Pizza that its West Seattle location (4449 California SW) is expanding. Pagliacci’s Matt Galvin confirms, “We did just submit drawings to the City to expand our dining capacity. Our plan is to go into construction in the spring with a mid-June opening. We will offer slices, lots of new seating, and beers on tap. We will open at 11:00 every day.” The expansion will stretch into the Clementine’s-turned-Lika Love space next door, adding more than 600 square feet to Pagliacci’s current 1,800-sf space. (We asked Lika Love owner Malika Siddiq about her future plans. She tells WSB she’ll continue to be “out and about in the truck when the weather warms up” as well as looking for a permanent space and selling online via shoptiques.com.)

BAMBOO’S NEW NAME: One month ago, Bamboo Bar and Grill (2806 Alki SW) closed for an overhaul, confirming it’ll reopen as a sports bar. While checking out this morning’s “king tide” across the street, we noticed it’s announced the new name, Alki Huddle:

No word yet on timeline for opening; STS Construction Services (WSB sponsor) is on site working on the revamp.

SPECIAL NEW YEAR’S EVE DINNERS: While the WSB holiday restaurant list already shows who told us they’ll be open New Year’s Eve, we’re also compiling notes about any West Seattle restaurants with special New Year’s Eve dinners. For starters: The Cassis bistro on Alki (WSB sponsor) is taking reservations for its special prix-fixe menu – see it here. Cassis is at 2820 Alki SW. We’ve also heard from Blackboard Bistro (3247 California SW) – see its New Year’s Eve plan here. Anyone else with a special New Year’s Eve menu? Let us know.

I hope that they rehire new people for Bamboo. Their customer service was the absolute WORST!!

Awesome news about Pagliacci. I always wished I could just pop in for a slice and a brew. I look forward to this.

Hooray! finally. I think, even though we’ve lived in WS for about 10 years, in that time I think we’ve spent about 20x more money at the Cap hill, Wallingford, and U district pagliaccis, only because those ones offer individual slices and a dining area.

Love the news about Pagliacci. The Alki Huddle? Everyone laughed when I read that news.

Great news! Cant wait for the convenience of a slice at Pagliacci, and nice to see more choices on Alki.

The restaurant scene has really gotten better the last couple years on the peninsula.

Wow. What’s with all the foie gras? (Both Cassis and Blackboard Bistro have it on their NYE menus.) Yuck.

If only Pagliacci would expand their delivery zone…

    • WSB December 27, 2014 (10:12 am)

I asked about that. If you were here in the beginning, we even wrote about it (can’t look up link at the mo). No guarantees, he said, but they’re “looking at it.”

I definitely miss the convenience. When I lived on Capitol Hill/First Hill, I ordered from them so often that I occasionally got free pizzas. I can pick up in the Junction, of course, and there are perfectly good pizza places closer to where I live now, but nobody who delivers to my address (except Pizza Hut, which…no).

datamuse, have you checked with Zeek’s to see if they’ll deliver to you? They deliver to me in the Salvation Army block of Highland Park/S.Delridge.

Ugh, more stench, late night and early morning noise, and air pollution for residents living behind this restaurant . Where is noise abatement and clean air enforcement?

Boo! I thought this would be an expansion of Pagliacci delivery area!

Sorry, comment time is over.
