I hate using that bus stop on Roxhill now. I am almost always panhandled or hit up for “smokes” by someone or another and between the bushes and the unsavory crowd lounging around the McDonald’s across the street, it doesn’t feel at all safe even in the daytime.

At night, most people getting off the buses will immediately jaywalk across Roxhill to get out of range, especially as some of the buses stop way west of the lighted areas and you walk along the edge of a shadowy jungle on the south side at your peril, seemingly.

I note that both QFC and Rite-Aid have had to add uniformed security guards due to the skyrocketing shoplifting, especially of booze, going on in both stores. QFC is spending several thousand dollars to build a controlled area for liquor to try and cut down on how much is walking out or being consumed on premises at night.

I love the convenience of so many buses leaving from the Westwood shopping center but it needs security upgrades in the area now that the more intriguing denizens of downtown and other charming places have discovered this sylvan retreat.
