My son was attached to a CH-53 squadron at MCAS Miramar and I had the opportunity to take a private tour of one. Talk about a big bird!

There’ve actually been 3 in recent history – 1994 and 1995 (then in ’96 they performed over Elliott Bay – we watched from Hamilton Viewpoint, first time we’d seen them, and it was a very bad choice to bring our then-6-month-old), and 2013.

Similar to ch47 Chinook but not as big.
