Even if they don’t include public events, presidential visits are usually of high interest for reasons including traffic effects and Air Force One sightings. So here’s the latest information about President Obama‘s planned Seattle visit tomorrow (Tuesday, July 22nd): Boeing Field has just published an advisory that confirms Air Force One will be landing there. While some of the ground and air restrictions in the advisory span the time period of noon to 8 pm, most of what’s listed suggests that the heart of the visit will be in the 3-7:30 pm vicinity. No open-to-the-public events have been announced; the visit is reported to be fundraising only, including, according to SeattleTimes.com, an event in Madrona. If any more information emerges tonight, we’ll update this item, and as always we’ll have the key points in our daily traffic watch first thing in the morning.

I’m interested in watching it land. Is there a safe viewing spot at/near the airport?

I would much rather O stay in Washington DC and figure out a resolution for the out of control USA/Mexico border problem.

Still more fundraising at taxpayer expense while dead innocents pile up in the world around him because of his failed policies and lack of courage to take a stand on any issue?

  • metrognome July 21, 2014 (7:42 pm)

gh – actually, you’re wrong. There are no official events on the WH calendar tomorrow, so this is considered a ‘political’ trip. Obama is not as adept as Bush43 at slipping in a visit to JBLM so the visit would be considered ‘official.’

speaking of Bush43, he did a great job of solving the border problem as well as easing the tensions in the Middle East during his 8 years in office, didn’t he. In fact, the regulation requiring a deportation hearing for minors was approved during his reign.

kinda creepy how conservatives get all warm and fuzzy thinking about what a man Putin is …

Yes, Obama is the ONLY president to ever use Airforce One…. good grief people. Since when is a single issue (border crossing) something that can be and if then else issue? Reading these posts I picture some old white hair guy sitting in his lazy-boy watching Fox News drinking a Budweiser ranting about how the world is ending.

Meanwhile I’m loving my 401K and employment the past half decade vs. my prior unemployment and tanking retirement.

I wonder if liberals will complain about such utter nonsense next time a Republican resides in the White House? Ya know, in the year 2084.

Ruby Chow Park might be a good spot to view if the flight pattern is approaching from the north. I would advise staying away from the perimeter fence, last time BFI was crawling with all kinds of law enforcement circling the perimeter fence. I think there’s even restrictions inside the Boeing office buildings that face the runway.

  • denis July 21, 2014 (10:49 pm)

What about the traffic!! That is the issue here.

  • Patriot July 21, 2014 (10:51 pm)

Still more fundraising at taxpayer expense, and at the expense of our work commutes and businesses. No POTUS should be allowed to use taxpayer dollars for fundraising campaigns nor for multi million dollar vacations at taxpayer expense. Folks, think about the taxpayer money this man is wasting on Tuesday.

And for God’s sake stop blaming Bush! Bush has been out of office how many years now and the MARXIST Comrade Obama still blames Bush instead of admitting to his own incompetence.

I was no supporter of Bush, BTW.

Seattleite … you have got to be kidding me. As though if Pres. Obama “stayed in WA” he could “fix” the border problem. Because clearly THAT is the reason we have a border problem; Pres. Obama not remaining in D.C. to solve it. It couldn’t possibly have anything to do with … here it comes … CONGRESS … being incapable of doing anything to pass a law.

The wonderful irony of your comment is that I suspect you belong to those Obama-bashers who both blame him for not solving all these problems, and then also want to impeach him for taking what unilateral action he can, in the face of the R’s in Congress who refuse to do anything at all in a bipartisan manner. Or am I wrong about your opinions?

  • Scott July 21, 2014 (11:23 pm)

The bigger issue is not Obama coming, but WSDOT knowing he was coming and still shutting down I90 to one lane. Should have timed it better.

Based on prior fundraising Junkets, President Obama will be too busy kissing up to greedy billionaires to meet with anyone who made paid for his trip – American taxpayers!

In 2012, it cost taxpayers $179,750/hour to fly Air Force 1? Taxpayers foot the bill, regardless of whether, and it does not matter if AF1 is used for official trips or fundraising junkets with Seattle’s corporate elites. So, a 6 hr. junket to hang out with greedy billionaires cost average Joe’s over $1 million – and this does not include police, fire, or other security forces. Source:

Hey President Obama, can you spare a few minutes to thank JBLM military, first responders, or recently laid off American Microsoft talent while you are in town?
    Let them eat cake

    We the People

  • daryl July 22, 2014 (12:24 am)

i think they should just close down all of I-90 and let Obama travel on the one open lane. Less impact all around, though i read last time he took a helicopter to the Eastside.
and really, does this have to be a forum for all of you bashers? find someplace else to do your crabbing, like facebook.

  • Democrat July 22, 2014 (5:42 am)

Wow all that is going on on the world and he is fundraising…
No visits with the common people of Seattle?
Why does a standing prez require fundraising?

  • datamuse July 22, 2014 (5:52 am)

    Such as when, Scott?

  • SGG July 22, 2014 (8:46 am)

As someone who voted for him twice, I am astonished that he is going on a fundraising tour with all that is going on. Russia shoots down a commercial flight with at least one American Citizen on board, the middle east is about to boil over, and there is indeed a crisis at the border of our own making. I really have lost a lot of whatever remaining respect I had for this president.

  • T Rex July 22, 2014 (10:27 am)

This angers me about as much as his face painted on the bus stop at 35th and Thistle.

  • Concerned Athlete July 22, 2014 (11:38 am)

Silly Americans, not one post Ive read is from an actual politician or from someone who understands how the federal government is run. Stop complaining and start working. Real business folk dont have time to complain!

  • Concerned Athlete July 22, 2014 (11:40 am)

You expect him to ride around like Superman and be able to solve every crisis in the world with the stroke of his pen. Educate yourselves, last time I checked Americans lacked education.

  • G. Gordon Liddy July 22, 2014 (11:47 am)

What about Bengazi? And those undocumented Canadian kids coming down here to smoke our weed.

  • ScubaFrog July 22, 2014 (2:15 pm)

I thoroughly regret my votes for Obama. This fundraising stunt just underscores how impotent and ineffectual President Obama’s been. How many times has he re-signed the ‘Patriot Act’? Signed NDAA into law. Proponent of the TPP. We’re still in Afghanistan. Gitmo still open…

And people are still solely blaming that dirtbag Bush (who certainly has a heck of a lot to answer for). But Hope and Change lol? Where’s the hope? Where’s the change.
