Azimuth, I so wish for better camera locations too. They do have some zooming/repositioning capabilities, as we see if there’s a major incident and SDOT turns the cameras, but the standard view otherwise misses big segments of the bridge. You might bring it to the attention of Councilmember Tom Rasmussen, not just because he lives here but because he chairs the Transportation Committee and therefore he and his staff work with SDOT, a lot. I don’t know if they have a general “suggestion box” – just the 684-ROAD line to call in case of somewhat urgent problems. – TR

The high schools should be notified when there are reroutes since they have to take the city bus, or the schools should sign up for Metro alerts. I only knew about it because I read this blog.

The crest of the bridge seems like where many breakdowns occur but I don’t see any coverage there, just 2 cameras on either side looking away. The head-scratcher for me is the 6th Ave S & S Spokane St camera that tells me nothing. I would like to have a camera where, heading eastbound, the road completes its bend from the hill heading past the metal recycling plant. It would look straight west down the road and let you see how the backup is doing where admiral traffic joins the bridge. The West Seattle Bridge @ Delridge Exit is almost there but doesn’t quite illustrate the east-bound backup to Fauntleroy. Rant over.

Yippee! (sorry)

Thanks, D. I just checked all the sources we watch and there’s no word of any kind of crash, nor any problems on 5 or 99 nearby, but stalls don’t show up on 911 or anywhere without firsthand reports – TR
