Video: West Seattle Food Bank bags big donation at WS Thriftway

$669.75 worth of Western Family products from the shelves of West Seattle Thriftway (WSB sponsor) are on their way to West Seattle Food Bank clients, thanks to the WST customer who donated a shopping spree to the WSFB, and the mad speedy-shopping skills of WSFB board member Chris Porter (top left), who filled the cart this morning:

P.S. The next big WS Food Bank fundraiser is the Instruments of Change gala one week from tonight.

Way to go, Chris! You are a speedy guy…must be all that bike riding you do.

To those of us who know Mr. Porter, it comes as no surprise that he would donate his winnings to a worthy cause like the WSFB.

    Well played, sir!

Blair- I think, in reading the article, that a different customer donated the shopping spree and Mr. Porter was the designated shopper for the WSFB to fill up the cart. Looks like he did an awesome job of filling the cart. WSB, feel free to correct me if I didn’t read the article correctly.

It is a very cool story. And to whomever donated the shopping spree, thank you!!!

ACG, yes. Perhaps a bit more confusing this year in that we don’t know the identity of the mystery donor – last year we did.

I would have hit the meats and seafood first cmon man..

Unfortunately those aren’t included – the shopping spree covered Western Family products, which are packaged/canned. And the Food Bank generally can’t use perishable food.

kudos to whomever donated the shopping spree and to Thriftway as well.

Unfortunately, neither WSFB nor Network for Good (which processes WFSB donations) mentions the Feinstein challenge on their website; the only reason I knew about it was yesterday’s WSB article. I set up a recurring donation last week; had I known about the doubling, I would have done things differently. Guess I’ll go back and see if I can change things to take advantage of Mr. Feinstein’s generosity. I’ll also contact WSFB re: adding info to the two sites.
