West Seattle businesses: Tony’s Market opens for 2014

Another sign of impending spring – Tony’s Market is open under the red/green/white tent at 35th/Barton. We’d been checking in every so often, but WSB tipster KB caught the start of business today before we did, and shared the photo. It’s the fourth year that Joey Genzale has reopened the produce market his fondly remembered dad Tony Genzale ran for so many years. We’re checking on hours/days and will add those details a bit later.

A West Seattle treasure that is still with us (hopefully for many years to come).

So excited to hear you are still there! I live a ways away but make it a point to stop when I’m in the neighborhood. Tony was always so helpful in helping me pick out the best produce! He is missed.

May be a ridiculous question re Tony’s Market–Are the fruit and vegetables organic?

East Coast Cynic: some are, some are not. Joey always can tell you where they come from, when they were picked, what’s freshest, etc. And their prices for organic are fantastic. I can walk out of there with 3 bags stuffed with produce for $40 without even trying. Compare to QFC where I can spend $40 on 4 items.

A rare find, a real family run market with hand selected produce. 35th and Barton is so easy to get to and 3 minutes from Westwood Village Shopping Mall. Much of their stuff is fresh from close by farms. EZ quick parking too ! Go often don’t load up, everything is very fresh and perfct to use the day you buy it . Many various deliveries are made throughout the day,35 years or more experience…A Pike Place Market style here in West Seattle.
