Southwest Library’s Jan Hogan retiring after quarter-century

That’s Jan Hogan, soon to retire from Southwest Branch Library in Westwood (35th/Henderson) after more than a quarter-century! Her library colleague Jane Gibson shared the photo and this note:

Congratulations to Children’s Librarian Jan Hogan on her retirement. Stop by this month and thank Jan for her nearly 26 years of wonderful stories and many happy memories she created at the Southwest Branch Library.

Jane says Jan is leaving in early April.

    Jan-
You have been WONDERFUL to us over the years, not just at the library but also at the schools participating in the Global Reading Challenge. Thank you for the love you’ve put into your job, and all the best to you in retirement!

I may be mistaken, but that does not look like 35th and Henderson to me. Perhaps I need to find my glasses.

Jan is an outstanding storyteller, really tuned into the kids, who all loved her. My grandson adored her storytimes. They were the only ones he’d allow me to take him to when he was little.
Thanks, Jan, for all your wonderful contributions to Library Land.
    Toni

Oh – the kids will miss her. What a great organized half an hour of story time she offered! Thank you so much and best of luck in your retirement!
