These for profit assisted living chains (Emeritus, Merrill Gardens, Brookdale, etc.) are least concerned about the elderly residents. They are about building, buying up, selling off,tax shelters, making a buck by over charging elderly who live and die in their largely under regulated facilities. They are run by investment bankers and lawyers. Sad but true.

I am sorry that they’ll be losing their jobs, which is never a good thing. I’m especially sorry they’ll have to part from coworkers (friends!) they’ve worked with a long while.

Very sad we will be laid off in the coming months, and our office of 300+ employees will be closing this year. RIP Emeritus, you’ve been a great employer these past 6 years. Time for a new adventure in life!
