One person taken to hospital after 35th/Thistle crash

Four cars were involved in a crash on SW Thistle at 35th SW earlier this evening, but you would have only counted three at the scene; police say they found a fourth driver a few blocks away at 37th and Cloverdale. We’re told one person was taken to the hospital “for observation.” Officers were still sorting out what happened; the scene is now cleared.

35th northbound was really slippery at 5p. Was actually going to tweet you that.

My car thermometer said it was 42F, so I don’t think it was ice.

There was a MetroBus and two cars pulled over too. Looked like they got into an accident then.

Apparently there was also a problem with a fluid leak from a Metro bus earlier. Co-publisher Patrick, who went to the crash scene, says that was a few blocks away on 35th. Don’t know if a link is suspected.

I was in this crash. Front passenger of the first car hit. The other car came flying around the corner into our lane and crashed into us head on. The driver looked underage and the passenger looked to be heavily under the influence. They fled the scene. I wanted to say thank you to all the neighbors. My kids and I were out in the cold for awhile. Several people came out and gave them juice and snacks. One man brought them little fold out chairs. It was so kind. Thank you.

I am so glad you mentioned it being slick on 35th last night. I turned right onto NB 35th at Thistle around 5pm and actually pulled over a block later to check my tire pressure due to my car handling “squirrelly” in the turn. I thought I was losing my mind (or power steering, or alignment…).

@Carrie–very glad you and your kids are okay. Kudos to the people who were so kind. Hope they catch the little punks who caused the accident. Unless the vehicle is stolen (wouldn’t doubt it), you’d think Mom or Dad’s car info will lead them to the perps pretty quick.

Carrie, I am so glad you and your children were not hurt and that the neighbors rallied around you.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. West Seattle people are like none other! I am worried about the girl driving. She told us her passenger, a 50-ish woman, who was also the owner of the car that hit us,
was a friend of her moms. I think she was told to help out this woman who clearly could not drive but was in over her head. As banged up and sore as I feel today, she must as well. She was so young and scared. I hope she is getting the help she needs.

Sorry, comment time is over.
