West Seattle Weather Watch: What’s on the way

6:24 PM: The outlook for the next few days keeps evolving – as does the content of the “special weather statement” alert from the National Weather Service. Now, it looks like:

-Very rainy, starting tonight
-Much colder by Monday, with lows in the mid-teens/20s much of next week
-Snow? Maybe a little … and then, the long-range outlook suggests, a chance again toward week’s end

P.S. Here’s Cliff Mass‘s take on it all.

8:28 AM SUNDAY: No special advisories added for this morning’s wind, but the newest forecast warns it could gust up to 40 mph.

Ladies and gentleman, start your radars! Here is my favorite from UW: http://www.atmos.washington.edu/weather/radar.shtml

Good time to check the tire tread and pressure, go get new wipers and replenish the windshield washer fluid with de-icing agents (stupid dealership used straight water and my entire windshield iced up last week when I blipped the washer, had to pull over).

    Try this…it’s much cheaper…

some also say that vodka can be used as a substitute for alcohol (the cheap vodka), as alcohol is a petroleum product, and some object to that). And don’t go overboard with the soap – it needs to be really diluted so it doesn’t gunk up the works. Castile soap works, too.

Please add Maggies referenced link to your WSB weather page.

JanS, as much as I can appreciate the idea of that solution, it’s more harmful than good since you don’t wipe away the alcohol before it hits your rubber seals if you use it from the washer nozzle. I’m pretty sure $1 for the store bought concentrate is cheap. Dish detergent is also harmful to clear coat.

Mike, will you please explain? I don’t understand the problem with the alcohol, nor do I see how such a tiny quantity of soap could harm my car’s paint. Jan’s recommendation sounded great and, if at all possible, I’d like to try it out.

I saw that Cliff Mass is suggesting actual snow for next weekend! He tends to be really cautious about that, so it’s pretty exciting to see him mention that it’s a real possibility. Come on, snow!

    Another over-hyped bs forecast.

Sorry, comment time is over.
