Happening now (and tomorrow): Holiday Open House at JF Henry

Tom Henry is all smiles – and sporting seasonal style – as day 1 of the Holiday Open House at his Junction store JF Henry Cooking and Dining (WSB sponsor) goes into mid-afternoon. As always, it’s two floors of fun and shopping:

Upstairs, you’ll find the treats, and special events such as author appearances today – West Seattle cookbook author Erin Coopey is there right now, until 3:30 – and then tomorrow, five demonstrations and clinics from knives to coffee and beyond, all listed here. If you come with a little one, don’t miss the model train running in the window; we grabbed a quick Instagram clip:

And you know it’s prime shopping if there’s a Santa sighting:

“Santa Al” was just making a cameo today, but will return for photos 10 am-1 pm on December 7th, two weeks from today. Meantime, the JF Henry open house is on until 6 today, 10 am-5 tomorrow with those aforementioned demonstrations, at 4445 California SW.

What a fun day- started at the SLHS bazaar- bought handmade soap & lip balm, beautiful handmade cards, fun jewelry for my granddaughters & homemade hot chocolate cones! Then on to JF Henry where I make out my annual Christmas “wish list” to give to my husband. Then on to Capers- lovely candles from Archipelago – free mini with a purchase & a $10 gift card with a $100 purchase. Bought the softest lounge sweater /vest ($49)& soft cuddly socks for a family member about to start chemo treatment. These will be soft & warm & comfy- but fun & stylish too. Then on to NW Art & Frame & True Value for more goodies. The sun was out- there were treats & smiles in abundance. I have lived in WS all my life 60+ years & days like this are just one of the reasons I love it so. Please try to shop locally this year- every store has something special to offer. Thank you Junction merchants, bazaar vendors, & everyone who helped make this a great start to the Holiday Season!

Love supporting local businesses and hope this is a great holiday season for all. But can’t we keep the Santa sightings at bay until we all at least celebrate Thanksgiving and the meaning of that holiday?

Well, if it helps, he was only there for an hour and I’m not expecting any more Santa sightings until next weekend :) The lateness of Thanksgiving this year is tousling schedules a bit. Last year, it was the earliest possible date – November 22nd – and this year, it is the latest possible date, November 28th, so there’s a little more pre-Thanksgiving Christmas’ing than in other years. – TR

Ry- I was at JF Henry when “Santa” stopped by- just to remind folks when he would be back for photos. It was after all a Holiday Open House- every store ( with an open house)had Christmas decorations up – so was very much in line with the spirit of the day.

Sorry, comment time is over.
