October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and that’s what brought the “Jocks vs. Docs” event to Admiral Safeway this morning. Above, the overview, as balloons decked the checkstands where sports stars, health experts, and regional-media personalities rallied for a bag-off and photo ops.

Recognize football’s Golden Tate (Seahawks) and Warren Moon (Hall of Fame), Olympic swimming gold medalist Megan Jendrick, and soccer’s Kasey Keller in the lineup? Closeups, and more about the event, ahead:

First – outside the store, a big reminder of what this was really about – a brand-new mobile-breast-screening van, purchased with funds from past Safeway fundraising:

Inside, the docs, cancer fighters from the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center:

From the media contingent, radio journalist Gregg Hersholt – a West Seattleite – posed with swimming champ Jendrick:

TV traffic ace Tracy Taylor, with Golden Tate of the undefeated Seahawks, and Safeway district manager Rob Weaver:

Star goalkeeper turned broadcaster Kasey Keller took some time to sign:

Warren Moon‘s now in the broadcast booth too:

The mobile screening van will be roaming the area – no West Seattle stops on the schedule just yet but if we hear about any, we’ll add it to the calendar.
