Mystery boat on Alki Beach: No, it’s not abandoned

1:16 PM: Starting with a note from Jennifer in the 5 am hour, we’ve received several tips and questions about that beached boat at Alki (near 57th SW), and finally have some information to share. Here’s what Joelle Hammerstad at Seattle Parks found out for us: “Apparently, the owner was coming around the point, got into some mechanical trouble, and came ashore right there. There has been an insurance adjuster out looking at it. They are waiting for high tide to get it out of there.” (High tide hits about 11 feet at 7:16 tonight and 9:08 tomorrow morning.)

8:38 PM: Still there at sunset:

Thanks to Guy Olson for the photo!

“Mystery Boat” would be a great name for a TV show. If Aaron Spelling were alive I bet he’d do it. Kind of like “Love Boat” and “Fantasy Island” combined — different D-list celebs board the boat each week thinking they will be going on a sun-filled, mai-tai fueled vacation, only to find themselves trapped on the boat trying to solve a murder or other crime, and they can’t disembark until it’s solved. Along the way, several of the characters discover insights into themselves that prove life-changing and they are happy that the journey went awry.

    Man I miss trashy ’70’s shows :)

Bob, going back even further – you don’t know how difficult it was to avoid bringing the Minnow into this …

Oh yes! LOL. Did anyone check this beached boat for a wealthy older couple, a starlet, a girl next door, a professor, a portly captain and his scatterbrained first mate?? I used to watch that show every day after school while I was supposed to be doing homework :)

Not to make everything political, but with a name like Integrity, and with it being beached and abandoned… It is hard for me to not draw parallels to the current state of affairs in our shut down government…

Sorry, comment time is over.
