West Seattle Crime Watch followup: Bail set for suspects in stolen-truck case

As promised, we’re following the case that broke here yesterday afternoon – a stolen truck spotted in the parking lot behind West Seattle Thriftway (WSB sponsor) by a WSB reader, who called police, leading to two arrests and the discovery of stolen property and two guns inside the truck.

Both suspects, the 20-year-old man found inside the truck and the 33-year-old woman he was waiting for, appeared for bail hearings at King County Jail today. Prosecuting Attorney’s Office spokesperson Dan Donohoe says bail was set at $20,000 for each. But since both suspects already had arrest warrants out for them, the total bail amounts are higher – $30,000 for him, just over $35,000 for her. They’re both due back in court Wednesday, by which time we will know the status of possible charges in this case.

We’re working to write up more details from the new court documents as well as from both suspects’ backgrounds, and will add to this story shortly.

ADDED 6 PM: The probable-cause documents tell the story along the lines reported here Sunday, with a few additional details:

Police responding to the call about the stolen-truck sighting found the male suspect in the driver’s seat, a key in the ignition and the radio playing – though when the owner was reached, he said he still had the only two keys to the truck. Police say they found a loaded .22-magnum revolver in the driver’s-side door pocket and a Remington shotgun with two shells in the back seat. The tipster reported seeing a pregnant woman in blue and white stripes leave the truck and headed toward the store; police went in and found her. Documents say she told them she “figured” the truck was stolen but denied knowing anything about the guns.

Meantime, in the male suspect’s wallet, three bank-issued checks were found; their owner told police his home had been burglarized last Friday, and, it turns out, the stolen truck was reported to have been spotted in that area. (The incident numbers in the report checks to break-in and “suspicious vehicle” reports in North Seattle.) The male suspect also was reported to be in possession of a driver’s license in another name – described as an alias he has used.

More information on their records, still to come.

Are they allowed to use the stolen truck as collateral?

    • WSB July 8, 2013 (6:03 pm)

It’s already been returned to its owners.

Thanks for the follow up. I am quite interested to see how this progresses.

    Not a real question

I know that property crimes are a low priority for the prosecutor’s office, but shouldn’t the fact that loaded guns were found justify a higher bail?

Can we please put these POS away for awhile? I read this guy has been in jail 6 times in the last year! Come on Seattle prosecutors and judges, do your job! Quit plea dealing and reducing charges on these POS!!

Does this mean Ma Parker and her Toy Boy will be back on the street soon?

Depends on what happens with charges and how the warrants are dealt with. We’ll stay on it.

Now they’ll have to find another vehicle to raise their baby in.

I realize that’s meant as a wisecrack, but I do want to note that no documentation we have seen so far suggest anything about how the two suspects are acquainted. The female suspect had two other male accomplices in the case last fall that relates to one of her warrants. The court system shuts down overnight during what otherwise would be my prime research hours, starting at 11 pm, so I haven’t been able to dig much further through her far more extensive background. – TR

How about some mugshots of these two fine, upstanding citizens, so we can perhaps recognize them when they’re released to again pursue their criminal endeavors in 2 or 3 days?

    • WSB July 9, 2013 (6:37 pm)

Pups, mug shots aren’t made available by the city or county. Media can request photos from the state Dept. of Corrections IF someone has served time in state prison – I don’t believe the male suspect has; I still haven’t made it all the way through the female suspect’s history but will ask the state DOC tomorrow if they have anything on file for her. – TR

Thank you, Tracy, for the enlightening answer, and all you/WSB do to keep us informed.

Sorry, comment time is over.
