TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Tuesday updates; early alerts

(Live view from the east-facing WS Bridge camera; other cameras are on the WSB Traffic page)
Good morning! We start today with a traffic alert if you’re driving on Roxbury today. SDOT‘s weekly “lookahead” says that between 7 am and 7 pm today, “Crews will close the curb lane of westbound SW Roxbury St. between 15th Ave. SW and 16th Ave. SW while replacing a concrete panel. One lane of westbound traffic will be maintained at all times.”

Also from the lookahead, two traffic alerts for next weekend:

*Friday night/early Saturday, midnight to 5 am, all southbound lanes of I-5 under the Convention Center downtown will be closed for fire-system testing
*Saturday night, the Seafair Torchlight Run will close northbound Highway 99 from approximately 5:45 pm to 7:45 pm

Heads up, SPD is ticketing cars in the bus lane on the WSB this morning

Why the heads up? If you do the crime pay the time.

Police have said they would rather people know and slow down, than not know, break the law, get caught, risk lives … Not that a comment here is likely to be seen by many people before they get to work, but hey, maybe just one person …

The ticketing this morning was at the bottom of the bridge at the gore point for bus lane violators. Sorry I’d prefer the stiff fine be the deterrent instead.

Don’t try to weasel over into the through lanes from or across the bus lane.. I’ve seen the officer stop both through lanes and have the violator pull over.

If they just put up set of cameras on the bridge to ticket them by mail, we’d be able to have that money go towards road maintenance.

It’s so dangerous to have scoffals speeding down the wrong lane. Make em pay.

Sorry, comment time is over.
